Elections - March 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Elections

I do not consider this a racist question: I have seen Barak Obama on TV and I like the guy. I think he has backbone and morals and a real stand up sort of guy. I think he has good values and probably a good speaker.

Personally I do not think he has a chance of getting elected simply because his name sounds like a terrorist. There was a comedy show on TV and the name of the show I think was "The Comedy Show" or "The Man Show" to be specific. They did a poll intented to be humorous and asked people on the steet "Do you think we should try to catch Obama"? They articulated the name Obama but still it sounded like Osama and many peolpe said yes we should go get that guy.

Do you think Barak Obamas name will hurt his chances of being elected. You now names matter as most all the movie stars change their names

Seriously, how does a guy go from state senator to presidential contender in two years?

If this empty suit weren't a minority he'd have been dismissed out of hand with his credentials.

Which presidential hopefuls are pro gun control and which are against? I've been trying to find out by reading the papers and checking their websites, but most of them seem to be keeping quiet about their stand on the issue. This will be a major factor in who I vote for, so if you could clarify please it would be appreciated.

I was looking through what each candidate was for and against.

My republican fav is John McCain and surprisingly even to me,
Hillary Clinton is my first choice if John doesn't run the final election(whatever you call it). We have so many views in common it's not even funny!

So can I vote for Hilary even though she's democrat?

This is one of my conspiracy theories. I believe that the Democrats want to force a precipitious withdrawal from Iraq in Sept 2008 so that they can blame the failure there on Republicans and help their candidate get elected. I also believe that the candidate will be Mrs. Clinton and they want her to assume the presidency without having to deal with Iraq. If things take a turn for the worse in the Middle East she will simply blame the Republicans and do nothing about that. She will be like that Roman Emperor (forgot his name) who supposedly played his violin while his country went into chaos. Mrs. Clinton needs to tell the voters what she will do to stabilize the Middle East after we withdraw our military forces. She also needs to tell the voters what she will do if she is inaugurated as President and our military forces have not been withdrawn as the Democrats hope for and she must make a decision.

Or is it really just about having the funds to campaign based on what you could make possible for your contributing companies, industries or lobyist. i.e. ... other filthy rich people?
I would love to see the country run by someone who genuinly cares about the average everyday people who work day after day to pay for this oversized money guzzling goverment of ours. I'm not just meaning someone who will have their "pr" people post some meaningless survey on a public forum like this one to portray as if they are getting in touch with the people. I mean someone that has actually started out working for a living supporting a family without a silver spoon or daddy's company to run. Someone that knows what it's like to have nothing and still keep going with just heart and integrity to show. Someone who will not view our countries bank acounts as free money to give away for political gains. Because they will know what was done by us to aquire those funds to keep OUR nation great!

This guy stays in the race even though the woman he loves and the mother of his children is dying? What kind of sick person would keep going in his longshot quest to ruin our country when he has enough money (stolen from our battered health care system) to spend every moment they have left together with her?

I guess the same kind of person who celebrates these three hypocritical notions:

1) Support of government interference in health care when his overblown lawsuits helped create the fiscal health care mess in the first place

2) Claims to be for the poor, but has a $6 million dollar gated home with an indoor movie theater (with exactly zero homeless people invited to stay there)

3) Claims to be an evangelical, but aligns himself with social liberal views (the latter being his only good point)

What do you think?

If Giuliani gets the Republican primary nod, he sets the agenda for the Republican Party and Giuliani is libertarian in ideology. That gives the Libertarians a major party of their own. It's time to kick the evangelicals to the curb and give ourselves a real choice for once. Hope it happens... What do you think?
