This is one of my conspiracy theories. I believe that the Democrats want to force a precipitious withdrawal from Iraq in Sept 2008 so that they can blame the failure there on Republicans and help their candidate get elected. I also believe that the candidate will be Mrs. Clinton and they want her to assume the presidency without having to deal with Iraq. If things take a turn for the worse in the Middle East she will simply blame the Republicans and do nothing about that. She will be like that Roman Emperor (forgot his name) who supposedly played his violin while his country went into chaos. Mrs. Clinton needs to tell the voters what she will do to stabilize the Middle East after we withdraw our military forces. She also needs to tell the voters what she will do if she is inaugurated as President and our military forces have not been withdrawn as the Democrats hope for and she must make a decision.

I don't think that allowing a country to have a civil war where genocide could happen is morally right. I also don't think that we could leave that country even if we didn't mind being the cause of mass death for our own strategic interests. If Mrs. Clinton's plan is to leave a small contingent of engineers and other civilian workers what could they accomplish? Also who will protect them? We have a problem and we must deal with it before we can leave. Morally, ethically, and in our own self interest we cannot leave until the job is done.

Most military commanders estimate that it would take six months to safely re-deploy the majority of the troops back home.

Congress is offering Bush one year, before that six month period starts, based on Bush's statements that Baghdad won't be secure until some time this summer or fall.

But that offer is only if the Iraq provisional govt makes significant progress during that year. If nothing changes, then that 6 months starts in July.

It's called a compromise. As opposed to demanding that the troops be brought home immediately.

And Senator Clinton has proposed what she would do -- a small contingent of military engineers, and civilian advisors, to assist in the reconstruction without being part of their civil war. Whether you think that's a good idea or not, at least it is a specific alternative plan that she has proposed.

You know I don't think there is a conspiracy theory. But I do think the senseless war in Iraq should be stopped as soon as possible. Why 2008? I have no idea. if it were up to me we would pull out tomorrow. The longer this goes on the worse its going to get for the civilians that have to live in Iraq. How would you like this country to be a war torn country with no end in sight.

Give them back their country, that's all they have ever wanted anyway.

BTW-- Im not voting at all unless we get some healthy candidates. So far what we is have next to nothing.

Are people so brainwashed that all they think about is the political fall out instead of the reality of what is happening in the world? The Iraqi people are living in hell. Could you sleep at night knowing someone very well may abduct you and torture you with a drill then shoot you in the head?

We caused this. What do we do now? Stay there until we're bankrupt? We aren't paying for this war. China is. They will have to be repaid. Its easy for us to sit back and criticize. Somebody needs to study the problems over there and come up with some sensible solution other than just stay there until we can't anymore. Trust me. That doesn't go down in history very well either.

You may be onto something. Any set date is an artificial milestone and sets up the Iraqi Government for increased attacks withing a week after we leave. Any timetable ought to be based on real milestones and not artificial dates.

Given a small volume of analyze to the project one might rapidly comprehend attempting to instruct Iraq right into a democracy could be an incredibly much impossible job under the final of circumstances. President Bush for despite his motives have been had a not straightforward on he could not forget approximately approximately and went into Iraq to get Saddam. interior the remainder of their delusional thinking I do have faith they theory they could be greeted as liberators after that. all of us now comprehend that replaced right into a pipe dream for the administration. i think of they theory after toppling Saddam the land might unexpectedly be crammed with peaches and cream and the Iraqi human beings might purely hand their oil over to us in return. on account that none of that has come to bypass we are there alongside with over one hundred thousand civilian workers "assisting" the Iraqis. this might proceed till the day President Bush leaves place of work, income frequently else. while he leaves, we flow away all of it collapses thoroughly in Iraq and the democrats get blamed and surpassed the debt.
