I went to vote with an absentee ballot and asked for help from the person woking the counter. She went line by line and told me to vote straight democrat. I voted mostly republican. Everything was well until I handed in my ballot and asked if I did it right. She then promptly ripped up my ballot and voters registration card and said I could no longer vote. Ever. I don't know what to do???? I think I may have voted incorrectly and now I am banneed for life.

I asked a question about gay marriage and responded to answers given with my opinions. How about that- a DIALOG on the subject. My opinion was very much against gay marriage. Inevitably, the haters wrote in. Since I can take the barbs of imbeciles, there was no need to report anybody for "abuse". Some idiot who obviously wants gay marriage reported the question and it got pulled as a "violation". So here's my point. Whoever did it you are a big COWARD. You want your rights but you do not want dissenting opinions to be heard. People can express their opinions here. If you don't agree with it, then argue against it. The main point of my question was to tell everybody to make up their minds on the issue and vote in the upcoming election accordingly. Whether you are for it or against it. I urge everybody AGAIN, that if you are against gay marriage then you damned well better vote for candidates who are against it as well, because otherwise gay marriage will be here to stay.

This question is debatable, but I just want to see what people think.

I consider myself a reasonably smart guy, and generally well read and up to speed on the political issues of the day. But I do not think I should be deciding complicated legislation along with 30 million of my fellow Californians (I'm sure a few of which are not as well read as I). I vote for a full-time legislator every two years -- in fact two at the state level (Assembly and Senate) -- who I expect will be my representative to research, draft, debate and vote on key issues important to me and others in my district. Personally, I think the Proposition machine (that's really what it is her in Ca) is a cop out by our CA Legislature and an undue burden on an unengaged constituency (comparable to other points in our history).

Just shut-up.

There are alot of people here that don't even get the basic gist of how things work or they are too young to even really be worried about these things, shoudn't they go ask and answer over in Tv and Entertainment or something?

The deficit is through the roof. The rich have their tax cuts and middle class earnings are down. FEMA doesn't work and New Orleans was handled terribly. The Iraq situation was bungled.

And now George Bush - who never had the courage to serve in the real military - is lambasting a decorated veteran over a botched joke? Come on.

We all know that the people currently in power are corrupt and have been screwing us since day one. Why do you continue to vote along party lines with the excuse that if you dont you just throw your vote away. We always have to Choose between the lessor of 2 evils, Are you people not sick of being lied to and manipulated?

I am looking for a resource that will allow me to look at how political candidates running for office REALLY feel about various important topics today. A resource that is truly nonpartisan, and which gives detailed information about the candidate, specifically how they have voted on various laws and legislative topics, as well as affiliations with corporations or other candidates.

Any help would be appreciated. Wishful thinking I know!

It's ALL fact now!!! That you NEOCONS used a radio-transmitter to change the words in the Kerry speech ( the tele-prompter he was reading from) that he gave in regards to people in the military being uneducated!!! You probably tried and ruin his career with that one, because he's to smart and solid on his stances to do it himself!!!!!! Here is the site that backs up my statement. Why would you do this? <<

That way they can:
-Over Spend
-Raise Taxes
-Give citizenship to millions of illegal aliens
-Ruin our efforts in Iraq (although I admit it's pretty botched at this point anyway)

I'd like to see exactly how the Democrats are going to fix things, considering all they have done for 6 years is to criticize and not come up with any real answers. Maybe people will look back and reflect that maybe things were not as bad.

I want the Democrats to gain office and ruin the country. Then maybe everybody will figure it out.

P.S. This Republican congress is pretty crappy too. But all the Democrats talk about is "regaining power", but I haven't heard any stances on any issue.
