Say, a group of people led by you are having a peaceful protest for some reason(anyreason).. and people joins your group, and your groups gets larger (say, thousands) demanding the same thing.....
and, government starts to crack down your group by ordering police and military to shoot the protestors...than, what should be done as a leader to prevent from being cracked down? whenever government orders permission to shoot protestors, all protests end and protestors never prevail. so, there should be fool-proof solution to counter this move. in broader terms, what should be done to bring about successful protest without being cracked down?
all ideas are welcomed and thanks in advance..

I have found an independant, non-partisan website which outlines the voting records and political stands on a tremendous variety of issues by candidates of many parties. There are tools to compare side by side how those seeking election compare on the issues. There are tools to compare candidates from each state as well as those seeking national office.
This site has really opened my eyes to the voting records of those I thought to be my choices. If more Americans would actually research whom they will be voting for, perhaps we will be less disappointed in our elected officials.
I'm really glad to have found it and to be able to share it with you all.. http://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm

believe our founding fathers meant for it to go to the extremes that it has. I believe they meant for us to have healthy debate, but I don't think they EVER thought of what it is used for now.

I recently read the first few chapters of Neal Boortz book. He talks about how liberals are irrational and emotional and conservatives are fact based and logical, but his book is very emotional when it comes to money. Like the government taxing people is like stealing or something, or the equivalent to getting robbed at gunpoint.

It seems conservatives are only emotional about money (mostly rich people's money). Don't they have any perspective on the fact that taxes pay for a police force and mililtary that protects them and their loved ones, or builds roads that they drive on every day? They're constantly complaining that government has no right to take their money, but where did they get the money in the first place? The acquired the money because they live in a country where accumulation of wealth is allowed in the first place.

The saying, "I love america but I hate the government" can only go so far.

I put a question out there yesterday, concerning our inability to control the destruction of American Ideals, and or moral fibre. I would like to pose an additional question for anyone willing to here me out. Can enough Americans draw a consensus and agree with some fundamental evils (example, poverty, war, racism, shrinking middle class), and find a concerted effort, with enough people behind us, and actually change this suicidal direction. Look at it this way, if most people in America agree with my premise, what's preventing us from changing it. Answer: courage and conviction, i.e. sacrifice. We need to start with something that we all agree upon and make "it" change, instead of make "a" change. I hope we all know the difference. I have had it with the same old song and dance given by leadership who are paid for, lock, stock, and barrel. Help me start this change.

I hope you give him a silent wall of New York stare down and he goes nowhere. In fact I think you should all take a walk before he's due at the UN and Columbia so he can't leave his hotel except to go back to the airport.
I hope you make him feel about as welcome as a rattle snake in a wedding cake!

Barack Obama is the only black Senator (and he is 50% white and Cherokee).

And if Gay people represent 10% of the population - then why are there only 0.0022% gay people in the House of Representatives (Barney Frank is the only one)?

And now that Larry Craig has resigned, there are no gay people in the Senate either.... so that's 0.00%

Yet Republicans claim that the minorities are trying to make "everything" about them....

To me this is a big issue. I want to start a website detailing what laws politicans have voted on. Who voted to cede authority to the President on Iraq? Who voted in support of the law banning Internet gambling? Who voted to allow for reinterpretation of the Geneva Convention?

I think politicians get away with things because we are ignorant of what they vote on. I think that right now we seem to leave it to enemy advertisements to tell us their "bad votes" but the source is so biased that we then often brush it off.

Either there is a way to track their vote history or we are being screwed over in a big way. I'm sure there has to be one and whoever can give me a link to find out who voted on what bills and resolutions gets the points--and my respect.

Bonus: Is there a way to find out how many trips they each take? Such as the ones who go to Paris 150 times a year under the guise of "doing research"? There should be a way to track this as well.

yesterday after noon, my friend was pulling out of our drive way and ran over our 5month old bengal cat who was playing in the bush next to our drive way.
Our cat and her car were both on our property when it happened and the cat was rushed to the animal hospital and is doing ok. She has several facial problems and is losing alot of blood but therwise is doing well. there is a slight chance she may need an operation and/or suffer mental deformaties. I love this cat as if she is my baby and cannot part with her. The vet bill was already reached beyond what we can afford (what will a new house morgage and 2 kids- on benefits).

Anyway so back to the queastion...my friend wont pay for it even though she ran her over...what is the law here? Is she legally obliged to pay for medical expenses? Does it make a difference as to whether it happened on our property or council property? Should she at least have to pay half the expenses?
any answers are very appreciated - thanks

That Semi-literate Gordon Brown and his Co-Cretins in the Cabinet have got the idea of having a "Motto" plastered all over buildings in the UK : proclaiming our "Britishness"
This is a blatant attempt to "Water-down" English-ness!
Jocks will still call themselves SCOTS!
Taffies will still call themselves WELSH!
Irish will still call themselves IRISH!
BUT we in England will be "lumped-together"
with every Black and Illegal Immigrant west of the Ural Mountains.
The English will be the only ones FORCED to call themselves British: this will DILUTE and DESTROY any sense of being ENGLISH.

The "Motto" will be chosen by"A Citizens' Summit!" WTF!
It will be chosen,of course, to sound like a "rap song".In the same way that "Respect" was chosen to pander to Blacks. (You don't hear little old English ladies saying:
"Hey,like Man! Don't "Diss" me like Man!"

I've just moved to a very small town in Kentucky. As far as I can tell, this town used to have a city council, but for some reason they disbanded several years ago. I think the county maintains the town now?? What are the first steps in organizing a new city council? Will the county fight this or welcome it?
Thanks in advance.

I served on a superior court civil jury trial last year, for most of october.

I just got summoned for jury duty for a criminal trial. I thought if you served on a superior court trial, you had two years before you were called again? But no, they denied my request for deferral.

Should I say one of my good pals is the chief of police (true)? Or just go and see what happens?? I'm in California, btw. What's the law? maybe someone at the court is mistaken.

Dr. King for example wanted us to be equal, treated the same with the same oppurtunities and not only that but he wanted us to unite and to get along.

Malcolm X and Huey Newton were a little more extreme in their approach but they still faught for problems that were really there.

Al and Jesse make a mochery of the whole civil rights movement and everything these revolutionaries of the past stood for.

I thought the whole point of civil rights is to being the people together, not keep tearing them apart but maybe I'm wrong?
