I hope that we can all respect each other now and in future but comments that each and every time. someone of race speaks out against the injustices that go on America, Some White Americans try to degrade it because of the person who actually is speaking out about it. Jesse Jackson and Al sharpton are not saints and have offended many other cultures at one period of time or another but there are whites who still going around hanging nooses on the back of trucks or putting up signs saying whites only and whites seem to not care how African Americans may feel about it. We all have participated in some way or the other as racist when you down grade a situation that is important to one group and try to make it insignificant because of the people who organize the rally or what ever it is doesn't help. Whether those young men had been in trouble before does not justifiy the way criminal justice system handles situatiun like this, it is hard to be Black in America and not have a criminal record it is it appears the duty of the court to make sure each and every young Black has a record before the age of 21 so that they can't get a decent job,it appears that White America will continue to judge Black Americans more harshly than they judge themselves and that in itself is racist and at the rate we are going every young man of any minority will not stand a chance to become some one if we don't correct the sentencing system in america for the crimes . It isn't that White America isn't out here committing crime ,some of the crimes that they commit are crippling to our children our country and our economy and they are not being held accountable like they should be.

The root cause of racism is ignorance and the willingness of so called civil rights leaders to use Race as a way of earning a living. Two of the best leeches to use race to make a living are Jackson and Sharpton. They rush to get at the front of a parade without trying to diffuse things. The recent Jenna 6 controversy is a prime example. The school and community had already taken steps to reduce the friction when outsiders blew things out of shape. The media used the entire thing as cheap programming. Leaders are supposed to work to ease tensions not increase them.

Robert has a good point . The Jena 6 is a excuse for some blacks to push racism but from what I saw in the case they where guilty they all have large criminal records . It was a all white Jury but proportional for for the percentage of Blacks that live there. So what is wrong? Nothing ! but Jessie and Sharpton make there living stirring up race wars so here they are making something out of nothing

Hopefully we will always get along... The root causes of racial tension is a concept that is simply too hard for me to grasp- logically racism is irrational.

The fact is they don't have to 'get along'. People can live in the same society as long as they have respect for each other.
They don't have to like each other. Those that choose to mingle with other races can do so. Those that choose not to should also be allowed to make their own choices.

It is only when government interferes with this balance that hatred and violence surfaces.

Because those of us who are white have been conditioned for 400 years that blacks are sub-human. Our arrogance, avarice, and hubris allowed us to - at one time in American history - trade, buy and sell blacks as property.
Blacks, on the other hand, have struggled through generations of abusive treatment at the hands of whites. They have grown up within an inordinate spirit of terrible inequality, the same kind of superiority white men have commonly administered over native American Indians, women, Orientals, and Jews.
