Every president in a time of war suffered low approval ratings. Bush hasn't even gotten as low as some presidents that liberals and conservatives alike now revere as great. Low approval ratings in a time of war are commonplace.

I hate hearing the non-argument that because Bush has low ratings, only "idiots" and "right-wing conservative baby-killer rich oilmen" still support him. I find that odd, because with a nation of nearly 300 million people in it, and his recent approval rating of 44%, that would mean there are 132,000,000 "right-wing conservative baby-killer rich oilmen" in this country, which I have to say, is a bit of an extreme demographic. I constantly hear communists harping on about 5% of the nation holding 95% of the wealth. I guess Bush's economy is doing better than anyone thought, seeing as rich oil tycoons now make up nearly half the nation.

All kidding aside, whether you're pro-Bush or not, shut up about his ratings. Form a cogent argument based on ideas.

REAL ID will be a new federally required identification card as of May 11, 2008. These "smart" ID cards will carry your background and have features such as magnetic stripe, printed bar code, optical, or radio frequency tracking. Homeland Security is permitted to add additional requirements-- a fingerprint or retinal scan. The hidden Bill was attached to another Anti-terrorism proposal and passed.

Evangelical Christians have likened such a proposal to language in the Bible warning "that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." That mark is the sign of the "end times." Libertarians argue against increasing the power of government. Civil liberties groups worry about criminal mischief. National ID cards are used in many countries, including Cuba and North Korea. Like those citizens, if you don't carry one, you will be subject to arrest. Republicans are rushing it via elections.

What say you?

Many Christians insist that when children and other peope recite the pledge of allegiance that they say that the country is "Under God" or they do not say the pledge at all.

Obviously an Athiest who does not believe in God will have objections to herself or her child making a verbal pledge that their country is subservient to supernatural beings.

Most American athiests believe that the country is subservient to the people, like the constitution says.

Is this what the Christians want? Are they telling athiests and their children "your loyalty to the flag and the country is NOT WANTED, unless you pledge allegieance to God?"

I'm just wondering why the Christians want to sabotage the patriotism of certain children.

The tepid outrage by Democrats seems insincere when it is exactly what they themselves have said for 5 years. Isn`t it more likely that the Democrats just want these leaders to shut up as it reflects on what they have said themselves repeatedly. Why the pretend outrage when they agree?
Chavez just said,"Bush is an Alcoholic and sick man with a lot of hang ups", " Walks like John Wayne", Like I have never heard these before? Harvard Professors and Democrat voters give standing ovations everywhere he speaks. Danny Glover hugs him. Looks to me like he should be The Democrats Poster Boy.
