Democrats are intelligent, caring people who believe government has a responsibility to the people to help them make their lives better, and who believe in responsible government taxing and spending within a balanced budget.

Republicans are mean, nasty people who claim to be for less government but in reality spend more than any democrats ever do, while lowering taxes on their rich buddies so that the only way to finance their spending is to run huge deficits financed by selling government bonds to foreign countries. They also want to control your thoughts and your body, restrict free speech so that you can only talk if you agree with them, torture and imprison people without due cause and in secret, and wreck your personal life if you dare challenge them -- all while claiming to be great americans upholding the constitution while they wipe their feet with it.

That pretty much covers it.

Republicans favor the wealthy, Democrats favor the working class and the poor. Republicans also do not work for a living. Democrats do work for a living. It's that simple.
BTW, Republicans feel safe with two draft dodgers Bush and Cheney in the White House. Democrats think it's not good to have a Idiot in the White House with his finger on the red launch nukes button about to say "what does this red thing do?. OOOOPs"
Edit for Kimmy, are you aware that Government under Republicans is larger not smaller also Government has never been more intrusive into the private lives of Americans. You should pay more attention to facts. Try reading some. Your other 3 points are also not facts, why lie?

Generally Speaking
Democrats
-- Have less money
-- Can be religous but know that other people might not have the same view as them.
-- Dont really care about gay marriage cause they know that the sanctity of marriage is in the heart of the individual.
-- Want Big business to stop selling Guns/Cigarettes youths.

Republicans
-- Have more money, often leading to louder voices.
-- Most likely will claim to be devoutly religous, for the Rich this is often a sham, for the rest its often true.
-- As for all other issues dealing with republicans, see the bible, IE : not a big fan of sodomites, want to control womens right to abortion.
-- Right to bare arms. Guns = more money.

Both Sides
-- Literally impossible in the US to have individual opinions, in American politics Candidates have to choose one of these parties and each party has its Pros and Cons. This will be the eventual down fall of the system... but I digress.

The astute reader might be able to tell im a democrat , so Im decidedly bias.

It's all about 'the issues'. Democrats are for the most part liberal, and Republicans are usually conservative. Traditionally, the Republican platform has been against gay/lesbian marriage, against abortion, and usually considered to be the party that supports America's "wealthy" people (although I believe that really both parties anymore are about that, I don't believe either truely tries to work for the lower/middle class), and Democrats are usually the opposite- but that's not to say you won't find a pro-choice Republican or an anti-gay Democrat.

Very in reality, Democrats (liberal) are more advantageous into massive authorities the position the authorities spends money on courses nationwide and percentage courses with all. The Republicans (conservative) have a tendency to shrink nationwide authorities by making use of slicing back on amenities and courses and push the "reduce out" amenities to a state aspect and all of us make contributions regionally. So if Dems are in cost all of us pay for it by taxes to the authorities, If GOP is in, we spend more advantageous regionally in taxes. both way we get screwed. Otherwsie one is an elephant and one is a donkey.

Democrats think the government can solve all our problems.
Republicans think the government IS the problem.

Democrats want more government, Republicans want less.

Republicans want whats best for America, Democrats are a conglomeration of special interests, unions, gays, trial lawyers, feminists, socialists, communists

Democrats think America causes the worlds problems, Republicans think America offers the world solutions.

Democrats are ashamed to be Americans, Republicans are proud to be.

A democrat looks at a mansion and says "No one should live like that". A republican looks at it and says "Everyone should live like that".

Democrats think blacks are unable to be successful without special programs and set asides, Republicans think blacks can be successful, and many successful blacks become Republican.

You seem to be getting serious responses or at least responses that have one foot in reality, so I'll weigh in...
Democrat often enjoy a majority in government with a 'opportunity for all' platform, though Republicans have had some success lately with the belief that less government is good government and that corporations will respond to market needs. Eventually.

Currently it is pretty simple. The democrats support a socialist state, sort of like communism. The republicans support a free market, sort of like FREEDOM.

BTW kimmyisahotbabe has it right on.
