It is such a great idea that I would like underdeveloped countries with overpopulation to pass a similar law. Maybe even allow foreigners to adopt those children after making sure that those foreigners are trustworthy individuals.

I think it is a very good idea. Do you know how many infants are just discarded because the girl didn't allow her parents to know she was pregnant or because the mother couldn't or wouldn't take care of it.Bringing the infants to a safe place, a hospital, police station, or fire station, ensures the child a life. I know in Las Vegas, the children can't be be more than a few weeks old. If they are older, the state looks for the mother and takes each case individually as to the consequences. I am all for allowing mothers that can't take care of the kids for whatever reason to give that child the life they deserve.
One the other hand, if the mother is know, I do believe they should be required counseling to avoid the over population of kids in the foster system. It saddens me to see the same person with an unwanted pregnancy and then let the system take care of her children. I don't want to just pick out the mother, but fathers also if they know this is happening.

I think it is sad that our society has such a symptom of it's condition but yeah, it is better than some of the other options that have happened.

I dont think it should mean they shouldnt be looked at by a phycologist but I mean, it is not that they are criminal they just really need some help. A kid would be better in foster care and counselling rather than drowned in a bath tub.

Aww, it makes me sad though.

I agree with your first answer. There will always be stupid, immature people who cannot handle thier pregnancy with anything other than fear. At least with this law, there is a safe place to leave the baby. There are so many couples out there that would love a little baby of there own, why allow mothers to just throw away those opportunities?

I think that it is great that mothers who can take care of their babies to be able to leave them at a place where they can recieve the care that they need. Its not always the moms fault. Sometimes young mothers have no one that they can turn(the father or parents) to to help them with the kids. its better than letting a child die. Other times its better than the child being raised by someone who doesnt want them. I bet if you asked alot of people with mental problems in prision what happened to them it would be that their family didnt take care of them like they should have and they turned out messed up. If this program was there a long time ago we probably wouldnt have so many thugs and gangsters out in the streets corrupting the world.

I do think that it is better to at least have an option for somewhere that they can drop off the babies, rather than dumping them somewhere hoping somebody responsible finds them - or just dumping somewhere so they die.

I don't recall hearing of many stories lately of babies being abondoned, found in dumpsters, etc. - so that would be a benefit of this program.

I don't think that we have seen a rise in the number of abondoned babies either. So that would seem to contradict somebody saying that it will make it "too easy" to abondon your baby.

So - I'd have to say that it's a good idea.

If they had this option a long time ago, there wouldn't have been so many dead infants found in dumpsters. I think it's great for saving tiny lives.
What I think of the mothers...... that's another story, but at least they have taken them to a safe place, so there's some good in that.

I think that it is a great law. It allows mothers that would otherwise abandon their children or abuse them, to have a safe haven to place their children into the care of people who can help their children.

It is a great idea. Before they could go to jail or be charged with a crime. Or they would abondan them in walmarts or truck stops, Now they can get proper care if the mother just does not want the baby.
