Im talking about the US govt of course.

Work in school which has failed on their duty of care to protect the health and safety of several colleagues. When put this to local county council they say that it is the governors especially chair who is responsible for duty of care. How can this be? It is not governors who pay our wages nor do any of them realise that they are responsible for the duty of care of all the staff in the school. Governors were not informed of the problem. The only governor which new was the chair of governors and he either took it on himself or got advice and none of the other governors were told. How can you then take out a grievance on the governors. On contract of employment it states "our employer is local county council". any advice anyone please at my wits end. Any problems and the LEA and county council pass the blame to governors.

Ok, for those of us who are former service members you remember the speech about..."Well IRR (inactive ready reserve) is only if WWIII breaks out" VIETNAM VETS HAD ONE YEAR IN VIETNAM (in most cases if you are one of the rare ones who volunteered for two or three OOH-Rah to you, but I have done 2 in Iraq and I aint going back for a third) A lot of us have started jobs college and other things. The benefits are not worth 8 years when the rest of country is not doing their part and the military is desperate enough to tap unwilling soldiers and marines to do a job that most of us don't understand anymore...This is more venting than anything.... All I know is I have a little boy about to be born and they are talking about recalling those in my MOS because the recruiters can't get anyone else!!! GI BILL IS NOT WORTH 8 YEARS AND POSSIBLY YOUR ABILITY TO WALK!!! If I offended anyone I am sorry, but this is appauling and noone except for vets are noticing

I am a green card holder, but I have left the U.S to Hong Kong for 11 months now. I don't have a so-called re-entry permitt. But I have decided to return to the U.S some time next week. Am I in trouble? Will they take my green card away? Thanks for some tips..

Australia requires all legally eligible citizens to vote or be fined.

How would you feel about a system like that in the U.S.? For instance, if it would allow voting over a period of several days to accomodate a larger group of voters, would you go for it?

Without fail when i drive past roadworks or the council digging a hole or laying slabs etc etc there is usually one guy working and five guys standing around watching, leaning on their shovels? If i was their boss i'd sack the lot of them, is this a specifically British phenominen or is it world wide. I work for myself and know the meaning of grafting!
