Can the UK citizen stay beyond the 3 months while they apply for residency?

I have not found anything written about if we marry here if that changes anything...

Yes they can, but you need to get the paperwork filed pronto.

I married a Brit two years ago, we had a great attorny who helped us with the whole process. If you want more info email me.

You need to remember to identify where "here" is to you. (It's quite relevant as one can't know if you are the American or the other).
Most foriegn countries impose a fine of approximately 20 bucks a day to stay in thier country without permission past the 90 days. What eaches rules are for TEMPORARY residency is what I think you might wanna ask and you'd need to ask the proper authorities (i.e. the embassy of UK and/or whomever applies). I don't think they'll accept just applications but something in process or on paper MAY or might be of some consequence. Hope this helps.

if you apply immediately for an adjustment of status, you actually can not leave the country without getting advanced parole (ie you would have to stay), as long as you are here legally now, apply quickly for adjustment of status I-485, a work permit, An immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130 (do it fast b/f you are out of status yourself).... once they are processing it, you are in an a limbo like state where you are not here illegally,
but you need to make sure your spouse can sponsor you financially, etc....
the whole process takes a little while, but you will be permitted to stay in the country until they make a decision.....

I have no idea-- and to tell you the truth, I hate these kind of questions.

Your best bet is to look up the URL for the UK on immigration policy, etc...

It's not bad to obtain answers from people around the world, but you can't trust anyone--- and neither will UK immigration unless you can provide proof.

Good Luck....
