I thought Republicans are in favor of limiting the power of the fed. govt., and letting the states decide most issues on their own

I know slightly why Communism doesnt work, its because there is no cash flow ,and the government gets richer and the people get poorer either because of production goals not met ,or because of some corrupt bastard. But we have corrupt bastards in capitalist countries and our system works!

Read reply from my friend:
Thank you for responding to my letter. Just one main question, who is being protected in this Marriage Protection Amendment? Because it does not protect me as a bisexaul woman. And who are we being protected from? Those evil gays and lesbians who want equal human rights? You should really answer those questions. And what about those other religions that let all people in love marry? Should your religion top theirs because there are more of you? And being that I am bi and a Christian, what about my right to marry whoever I love?? Another thoughtful response would be great, just so I can understand where one of my senators is coming from.

Senator Johnny Isakson wrote:
I am disappointed that the Senate refused to proceed to allow an up-or-down vote on the Marriage Protection Amendment. I believe it is important for the sanctity of marriage and for the laws of this country that we have a seamless definition of marriage within the Constitution... (???)

I believe spankings (not beatings) should be manditory in every household, punishable by law if it ISN'T done.
Of course, only when alternatives have been exhausted, or if the child has caused purposeful harm to another child, or any extreme reason. Wishful thinking, but some states in the U.S. will put parents in jail if they DO spank and they're caught, such as in Las Vegas.Ridiculous!!!

What has she done for NY state as a senator? She seems to not have any answers to any national problems. all she does is critisize what others are trying to do. Eventually you have to put up or shut up.

The Geneva Conventions seem to be toilet paper as far as some interrogators, their commanding officers and ultimately the Pentagon are concerned. Maltreatment is widespread amongst the Iraqi people. We are supposed to be bring democracy I understood.

I keep seeing libs say that conservatives "spew hatred". I would like a specific example of this, or at least an idea of what a liberal considers "hatred".
After seeing some of the names our president has been called by liberal posters on this site, as well as what conservatives and people in predominately conservative / Republican voting states are called, I don't see how liberals can call anyone else hatefull.

So many people, both on here and off, attack others' personal lives based on their political beliefs and I just can't understand it. It makes no sense to say that all liberals have "nasty personalities" or that conservatives all want to kill people. The ad hominem attacks are not only unproductive and nonsensical, but always further your opponents' view that your side is full of morons and/or nutjobs.

Schools will let you have religious groups (clubs). They will not let you say: God Bless You, Pray, anything like that so it's advertised to the student body as a time of fellowship and devotion.

I closed on a house 20 days ago-we had a home inspection and final walk-through-we now possibly have termites and defiantely have substantial damage in basement-water, mold hidden by 2 rows of ceiling tiles-appears to be a cover-up-what can I do- do I have recourse w/ seller or home inspector? These items were not disclosed by seller or found by inspector. Damage in basement has been determined to be from pre-existing condition from poor siding job.
