Okay guys and gals, this is absolutely ridiculous, I'm reminded of Middle School by some of the ways people are treating others on this site!
Here's the deal:
Everyone needs to stop bashing everyone else.
If you have a problem with something someone says, don't take the bait! Don't lower yourself to their level.
Let's raise the standards of what this section of Yahoo! Answers has become.
After all, people come here for advice (most of the time), and want genuine help. So what if they're a beginner? We all were at some point or another. So what if you think their question is stupid?
If you don't have anything nice/constructive to say, don't say anything at all!
I know those 2 points are nice to get, but what's the point if you're going to get thumbs-down and other people pissed at you?
So please, play nice, and make this website was it was meant to be: an honest place to ask questions and receive honest answers.
I'm not looking to elicit negative reactions from you all, be nice.

well i know that i cant be given a valuable lesson about horseback riding on the internet, but what i can lear is the parts that i need to know without being on the horse, this is what i would like to learn so i can study it and advance in my lessons, i know it will take hard work time and comittment but this stuff is just good to know so i can study it here is what i have to do
know all parts of saddle and bridle
explain crossties and their purpose
explain why you never tie a horse with reins (and what tieing a horse is)
know at least ten horse parts
and know the four natural aids, i beleive they are voice, hands, feet, and seat, but i dont think that is 100% correct
thank you.
and dont tell me i shouldnt ask questions like this, i'm not asking how to cheat through lessons i am just asking how to knoe ceratin things, like earlier i needed to know the parts of a hoof and i looked them up and studied them and now i knoe it front and back and my trainer was very impresses that i

So yesterday I posted a fun lil question asking if anyone had ever heard of Matt Morellie and attached a link. Now Matt Morellie is a guyy who trains his pet moose to do tricks. I thought it was neat b/c he had the moose in a horse harness and pulling logs. Well YA deleted my question saying it was not a question or answer. To my knowledge when you put "EVER HEARD OF MATT MORELLIE???" and make sure it has a question mark after it then it is a question... what gives. I didn't get to ready any answers and apaprently I had 13

Ok, so yesterday I started my first day of "training" with my new horse. I board him and he was already antsy about all of the new things (barn cats, new horses etc.) and when I took him into the large indoor arena he decided that it would be a good idea to start yanking and pulling. (I just had him in a halter and was holding onto his attached lead rope) I didnt think it was really that big of a deal, until he started pulling me around in circles. So I put him back into his stall.

**He's ok in the aisle leading to his stall, but when we got to the arena he started misbehaving. I think someone more experienced wouldnt have even noticed but Im 13 and still getting over my fear of him. I am always afraid he'll spook and take off dragging me, or kick me. He's a very afraid horse so he overreacts to EVERYTHING, I really dont know what to do!**

What should I do to correct this issue? Or perhaps just make it so it doesnt frighten ME anymore and I could just pass it off as nothing?

I've been looking for an American cream draft, so i was browsing on dreamhorse, however couldn't find one for sale, anywhere i could get one help?

Right main question, i was on dreamhorse and i noticed that they sell zebras, so i had a look and there was a picture of someone riding the zebra, but i just doesn't seem normal to me. I know horses came from the wild and we ride them, but zebras! i don't know its a bit bizzare. Does anyone have a zebra? I can see the novelty of riding a zebra, but why would you really? what do you guys think, would you wouldn't you and why?

Or just comment on the subject.

Myself i'd never want to ride or own a zebra, i guess i never really thought about it though...thanks!

Oh heres the advert i saw, sorry if its some one on here and there zebra, no offence meant: http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/thumb/1/18/300px-Mars_celebrations.jpg

Okay, so I'm sure that this question has been beaten to death, but I thought I'd give people another chance to recount their tales.

Here's mine: Yesterday I was in a barn show, not a big to-do. I knew the course, but I was so focused on getting each jump right I started my courtesy circle and realized that I had not done the last THREE jumps! (In my defense, the fifth and eighth fence were the same single in the same direction.) My thought process was literally "Good, I'm done. Wait- I haven't done the line the other direction. I should probably do that." So I finished the circle, did the line and single and did my courtesy circle. After the placing, the judge talks to each of us to tell us what we did well and what we could improve. She kindly let me know that I had trotted my last fence. I wasn't sure, but I had blocked out the course right after I rode it. I wen't home and looked at the video of my ride. I did trot it. Oops!

So I moved my horse back to my regular barn this past week. The stable hand (the guy who feeds and lets the horses out) is a very nice hispanic fellow.

I was thinking a small gift might be a good thing for him for xmas. Practical reasoning here, he takes care of the horse, and I want her to get the best care.

I was thinking a pair of fleece gloves? Useful and not terribly expensive. Any other idea's?

I was also wondering if anyone has Spanish for the Horseperson information. What the names of the barn items are in Spanish? I speak some Spanish, but, not too much that would be helpful in a barn.

Thanks!

I know I am probably going to get yelled at for asking this question, but what is the main difference between English and Western riding? I can ride western and bareback on my horse. I have only ridden english once and it was mostly walking so I couldn't compare much. It felt a lot unsteadier though. I know the saddles are different, but why? Western is just more casual is what I've been told, but barrel racing seems a bit more intense than dressage to me. I want to jump eventually ( I've jumped western and bareback, not very high though) so I am going to switch over to English soon. Why are the stirrups different? Why is there no horn? Does the horse act any differently?

Yes, I understand that horse slaughter in its current form is bad, because the animals suffer, but if we end it altogether what's going to happen to all those horses? They'll be shipped somewhere where there are no humanitarian laws. Horse slaughter needs to be CHANGED, not ended.

I hate it when horse people don't even know what color their horse is in horse terms.. Brown is a horse with a black body and brown muzzle... etc.

There is a difference between colt and filly.. If your talking about either one is a foal. Colt equals male.. they are not all colts.

The truck and trailer doesn't judge the quality of the horse coming out of it.

Respect for the people who train their own horse.

Just because I ride western doesn't mean I'm a redneck or trash.

What are things you wish the horse people out there know about horses!

Does he look like a mule because i asked a question not so long ago and a answerer said he looked more like a mule? he really shouldn't because hes a purbred haflinger. i'm just curious really, tell me what you think?

Btw i've got nothing against mules and how they look, but i'd prefer it if people did actually think and know that he is a horse.

Stupid question i know, but i'm just curious, so if theres nothing nice to say then don't say it, because thats how questions like these are started :)
