Many times, if you advertise in the local paper, mushroom farmers will haul manure away from your farm for a small fee. Some will do it for free, because they use the manure as fertilizer for their crops. Most barns and stables will usually have a manure or compost pile somewhere close to the barn, and that is where the stable cleanings get dumped. Fresh horse manure can't be used as fertilizer, because it is acidic and will burn the roots of plants, unless the plants are very acid tolerant, like azaleas and rhododendrons are. Once horse manure has been left to rot and compost, though, it makes excellent fertilizer, and many people will pay to get it for their gardens in the spring and summer months. Once the manure pile is of a certain size, the usual procedure on most farms is to load it into a spreader and spread it out on nearby fields. Burning manure is not recommended in suburban areas because of the smell and because such fires can easily get out of control. Likewise, though there are people who will use dumpsters for disposal, it's expensive to have these hauled away, and the amount they can hold is limited at best. Hope this helps.

The poop is just a small portion of what you will have to clean out of the stall. The horse will be on some sort of bedding. Wood shavings or straw are common bedding materials. I’ve heard of people using peanut hulls or even shredded newspaper. The bedding material is going to soak up the urine. The wet bedding and poop will need to be removed every day and fresh bedding will need to be used to replace what was removed. You can pay someone to do this.

Some people just have a manure pile behind the barn. If you do not have a lot of animals contributing to the pile it will biodegrade and never get all that big. (As compared to the barn anyway) It’s kind of a waste to not compost the manure and use it on the garden but that may be more work than you are up to.

If you have a horse thats a big responsibility take it from someone who has 10 of them all the poop goes in a wheel barrel and is used as fertilizer or just spread out in a random pasture and if you own the horse then you clean up the poop!

You put it in a pile...makes a great compost.

Fresh horse manure is too "hot" for gardening, though. Be sure to let it cure.

You can load it into a manure spreader (See, it's an actual farm implement...not just a politician :o) ) and spread it over the fields, but you should make sure your horses are on a good worming schedule, or you're just seeding the pasture with parasites.

At my barn we have a 'car' thing that has a back area. The people who clean the stalls drive the car through the isles, put the poop in the back and then they take the poop to a pile in the back towards the trails where the poop eventually becomes part of the earth.

NEVER dig a hole in the ground. chemicals from the poop if gathered in a area like a hole can kill you.

Those who've mentioned making a pile & composting are obviously in an area where zoning doesn't require it being carted away. We have to do that here.

There's a commercial company that will come take it away. You pay a fee for the dumpster rental, and a pick up charge.

You can also bring your manure to local garden/ landscaper supply companies. Usually it just costs you the cost of gas & rigging up a trailer to get it there (or a dump body pick up). These companies then compost it and sell it to anybody who'll buy it.

It's kinda a circle around here the horses do there thing, we put in a huge pile and what till fall when we fertilize are pasture whit it which make the grass grow which the horses eat and then poop back out.

If you can find someone who will pick it up... BRAVO to you. It is possible, since some folks use it as fertilizer for flowers, but it'll be loads of work to deal with that. Look at other answers, but If you don't have room for manure composting, or to spread it with a mechanical manure spreader, you don't have enough room for said horse, and should look into boarding options.

1. There are commercial haulers who can take it away.
2. It can be piled up until it turns into compost and can be used as fertilizer.
3. It can be spread on fields immediately

ALL poop from all animals eventually decomposes and becomes part of the earth.

lol-there is alot of ways to get rid of it...it all depends on what options are open for you.
1. after mucking put manure in spreader and spead it.
2. make a muck pile and let it decompose(could take years)
3. burn it-I would NOT suggest it for the fact that my momma did and it took almost a year and not air quality-LOL!!
4. selll or give away- here in the country people will gladly take it from you and put in their gardens.
5. Some area's you can have a trash compactor and your local trash company will haul it away.I had this option at a barn I worked at.
It's a crapy job-but someone has to do it-LOL
