At the recommendation of my saddler I bought a $250 girth. It gave my horse rubs. The saddler bought it back "used" for $60 and recommended a $35 wintec girth that is fabulous. I don't use that saddler anymore.

Circle Y tack. I used to swear by this stuff but they have really dropped their standards. I ordered a trail saddle this summer and they sent the wrong one but I kept it anyways and ordered tack for it (this was August). I waited for that tack until two weeks ago when it came; they had to custom make it because the matching tack didn't come in the color of the saddle (stupid). For three months they told us it would be ready to ship Friday. Well it finally came and it looks like hell; the leather is cracked, they polished some of the buckles and conchos and left others to look rusty (it was their new barbed wire set) and the barbed wire tooling looked wretched! To top it all off it was over $300 for the headstall and breast plate.
While I was waiting for this tack I ordered a barrel saddle and they sent me the wrong one. I have since put the Congress edition Proven up for sale and am saving to buy a Double J.

The many dressage saddles!!! I have owned probably 10 dressage saddles and just can't handle riding dressage for any length of time. I love jumping and hacking and after about 20 minutes switch my dressage saddle for my jumping saddle and life is good again!!! Eventually I sell the dressage saddle and then buy another one when I think I need one. Tried a Drespri too made by County and didn't like it either. thought is was the solution to my problem but just could not sit properly. So Instead I bought a Black collegiate Event saddle that is great for lower level dressage and super for jumping and hacking. I now have 3 of them!!!

The funny thing is that Buzz Lightyear is apparently ignorant of the percentage of the US government expenditures on ALL foreign aid. It is 1.2%. i.e. Just for Israel alone, it is less than 1%. Yet, when it comes to Libya, since it costs 1% of Iraq, he thinks that is a good deal. In other words, he doesn't care about "how much money" was actually spent, all he cares about is if he agrees with the expenditure. (For the record, if Qadaffi is replaced by someone better than him, then I'd agree that it was worthwhile. However, that still remains to be seen.)

Hi there,
I would say that for me it is rugs. Any rug I out near my mare is torn within the day.
I brought her down from a tropical climate to a snowy one, so I thought do the right thing for her and rug her. Well the repairs for that winter cost me more than the rugs did and I needed 3 of them. One on getting torn, one being repaired and one waiting to go on.
The other is those, friends on mine, who have to colour co-ordinate their gear, then change the colour scheme and have to get all new stuff in the new colour.
Having said that I just made a saddle to fit my fat cow of a horse in a leather that will go with her coat colour, she is an Appy. So maybe I am no better than my friends.
It did cost less than buying one from a shop though and it is exactly what I wanted and need. She says trying to justify it all.

My horse had it on less than a week and it was destroyed. there went 200 some dollars. I will never buy that brand again! Weatherbetta all the way now!

I bought a Wintec "non slip" pad for my high withered mare. It was supposed to keep pressure off her withers. The thing didn't even stay on. And a bitless bridle. She's a TB and when she gets up a head of steam, she can be a handful and I had to switch back to a regular bit.

bits! lol in general. i tried so many bits for my old barrel pony to find one that wasn't too harsh but also one that she wouldn't run through, she was just so picky! lol i have a bucket full of perfectly good bits that have only been used a few times, that have been sitting there for years with no use! one day i will get up the energy to sell them at a tack sale or something :)
