I'm starting to see all these shells in my fish tank, they move and what not. is that bad?

I'm starting to see shells, my cousin says that they are snails.
They are like little tiny shells. Are they bad for my fish?? What do I do?? Should I take them out? I need answers A.S.A.P. Please & Thank you.
