A UN investigator strongly suspects the CIA of using torture on inmates at Guantanamo Bay - suggesting many were not being prosecuted to keep the abuse from emerging at trial.
Martin Scheinin made the comments on Thursday after he visited the Cuban detention centre last week and attended a hearing of Osama bin Laden's former driver.
The special rapporteur on human rights said US officials had told him that of the roughly 300 detainees currently held at Guantanamo, 80 were expected to face military trials for suspected crimes.

I think the one's on here are far more uglier both physically and emotionaly

The average troll stands Five feet high and weighs roughly 500 pounds, though females tend to be a bit larger than males the Males penis is roughly one inch long. The hide of trolls is rubbery and thick, and usually either snot green, putrid grey, Their coarse hair is typically iron grey, or greenish-black.
Trolls initially seem to be somewhat shorter, due to their sagging shoulders and tendency to hunch forward. They walk with an uneven gait, and their arms dangle and drag the ground when running. Despite this apparent awkwardness, trolls are quite quick at typing.
Trolls are infamous both for their Copying tactics and regenerative abilities, able to recover from the most grievous of violations or regenerate entire typing limbs given time. Severing a troll's head results merely in temporary suspension, rather than death. (unfortunatley)

Do you think Kosovo should stay as part of Serbia or be granted independence and recognition as a separate country?

On the one hand it is populated by 90% Albanians who want independence and to be separated from Serbia, but Serbs recognise it as an important part of their country and as their historical heartland.

What do you reckon?

As recently as Oct. 07 President Bush said, Iran's bomb-building program could be a precursor to "World War III".
This week Time Magazine reports that Bush told a press conference, Iran halted it's weapons program in 2003.
Was the NIE holding back information or was the President just not listening?

First it was Cheney's secret energy notes, and now it's CIA tapes that have been destroyed. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071215/ap_on_go_pr_wh/cia_videotapes
I can remember when it was this country's policy to treat our war prisoner's as we would want the enemy to treat theirs. Torturing mostly only leads up to hearing a phony story that's of no use.

I simply cannot stand it when Republicans talk about how this war is a neccesary conflict for the U.S. I meam seriously who actually thinks the terrorists would be attacking here. Wasn't an attack Iraq simply what the terrorists wanted? So why do we not leave and these people their country back?

So far Drew Peterson says everybody is lying:
▲His minister ..because he was obviously having an affair with his wife
▲Ex wife #2.. he thought they were friends, how can she say all those nasty things?
▲Ex wife #3...all those lies she told in the letter she wrote saying if she was found dead, it wasn't an accident. Which was written just before she died.
▲Step Brother... what is he talking about, helping me move a container the night Stacy went missing. I did not pay him 2000.
▲Stacey's family.... oh those big fat liars, Stacy never said she was afraid of me and if she was missing, it would be my fault.

Where are Drew's supporters? Surely at least one person besides his Momma thinks he is innocent.

And why has he not had a relationship for several years with his son who is also a police officer?

And when the movie about Drew Peterson comes out, is it going to be believable? hopefully by that time he will be on death row and will not be able to make any money off it.

I will explain why I have asked that question. Two days ago, I watched "The Street" on BBC1. The conversation between the mother and the guy who had years earlier killed her baby........

That was really powerful!! She was describing to him her grief versus his sense of guilt. It was powerful!

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I know that it hasn't been established if Madeleine is dead. Indeed, I am one of those who think she was abducted and could still be alive.

I suppose it is too much to expect that I won't get any abuse, but I can just ignore it.

Back to the question. I agree that they have not shown their emotions in public. Undoubtedly, they have been hurting inside.

If anyone on here has gone through what must have been awful, then I feel for you and sympathise. Apart from wanting Madeleine back, they must have gone through something of a nightmare with their lovely little daughter missing.

How many of us on here agree?

They are in my prayers every day.

A Government think tank The New Economics Foundation has said "Nintendo WII consoles are more responsible for Global warming than 180,000 flights to New York. But that is not the best bit. Their advice is this For Christmas don't give gifts give personal time instead to cut Carbon Emissions.
To me this is just the most rediculous thing i have ever heard and more scare mongering by this Politically Corrupt i mean Correct Government to have Christmas banned to please the Extreme Racial Equality idiots.

Your Opinions please.

The news section seems to have been taken over by the ridiculous, and how what music you like, whether you are still up and other ridiculous questions relate to the section is beyond me.
There are other categories available for these questions so why aren't these questions asked on them.

I seen so much blambing & complaining about Bush bringing the trrorists on us, & were fighting an unjust unprovoked war. So I want to hear from all you liberals & anti-war pacifists about how you would stop the terrorists without going to war & taking them out.

I don't want to here who you think is to blame. This is a chance for the rest of you to try to convince me, a firm supporter of our toops & what their doing, of your way to end the terrorist threat. Let's roll.
