The news section seems to have been taken over by the ridiculous, and how what music you like, whether you are still up and other ridiculous questions relate to the section is beyond me.
There are other categories available for these questions so why aren't these questions asked on them.

I agree it's not hurting anyone poppy but I go into a particular section on YA to answer questions that are hopefully relevant to that section and I am not interested in girly gossip.

I placed this question here because it is relevant to this section and I wanted opinions from other posters on news and events so I do not consider it a rant.

Busy Bee, if there was nothing of interest on News and Events I would go to Jokes and Riddles etc, where most of your questions should be posted in the first place.

Its even more disturbing when people use the site to gang up on other users, sometimes i wonder if those involved have a hold on reality x x

I cannot disagree with that.
In fact I agree wholeheartedly with you. I don't visit Currents Events as frequently as I used to because of the type of questions being asked there nowadays.... or discussed there nowadays.
It was better when the McCanns were being discussed day in day out.
I kind of agree with "michael w" but the problem is that this section has become EXCLUSIVELY trivial. Once in awhile, OK but it has become excessive ! For the trivial I will buy The Sun. I would hate to see this section turn into a tabloid YA section.

It would be so easy for a lot of so called questions that you find here to be posted in other sections without incurring violations and general irritation by other users. The fact that this is not happening is because there are people who think that they own this site. They probably want everyone else to push off but then who could they attack?

This particular section rarely has any pertinent input about current news. It's more of a chat room. You've made a very good point. This resembles the P & S section of this forum.

Often when I find a question that is clearly in the wrong categories I thank them of the two points and don't offer any advice.

Yes of course you are right, however you can pick out which answers that you want to answer just as in any other category Current events has turned more into a club where most readers know each other and have formed a love/hate relationship. Whether this is a good thing or not is debatable but I enjoy it.

I fully agree. I would also like Yahoo to look at some of the open requests for people to write essays or otherwise do the homework for some. I can understand questions about HOW to do homework but not "where can I find a free paper on ..." or "I need a short essay on .... Plz help ... its Christmas"

It seems to me that it depends what time of day you go on here. I totally avoid early evening now because the questions then tend to be a bit mind numbing. It improves after about 9 o clock.

The news is the news and that's part of life. Life is. And if it isn't maybe work on in for a little. Being open minded and having the ability to accept change will take you in many directions. Lots of people you will find ignore some of the rules pertaining to a category because the don't read enough about it.Hope that helps.
