I have been wondering the same thing. There is this fascination with Diana that just won't go away. It is kind of like Elvis. There is a mystique about them. People loved Diana and can't get enough of wanting to know about her life. I don't need to know anything else about it, myself. I mean, her private letters should remain private. Enough!

Why? The cult of celebrity, which has the power of a major religion.
And Diana, there, had and continues to have iconic status.

At one point it looked as she would become, due to a massive public vote on a history TV series, "The Greatest Briton of all Time." There was a reaction and she came third, still being ranked in the public mind greater than Shakespeare, Darwin or Newton.
(Which tells you most of what you need to know about the public mind).

On the day she died in a car crash, so did* 8 other Britons and 100 Americans. Just as much human beings as her.
The disproportion of attention is staggering.

The movie the "queen" was just aired on cable--and it was all about the queens reaction about the death of Diana and all her ill will towards Princess Diana.......it really showed the queen to be very vindictive toward her and hurt that Diana was adored by all of England and she was not........and the true facts are still not out......it will be like the Kennedy assassination and we will be hearing about it until 20 years from now.
