Hey all,

I am a college freshman and an aspiring journalist (I write for the UCLA Daily Bruin). In the interest of reading more news and becoming a better writer myself, I asked my parents for a subscription to a national newspaper as a holiday present. Instead of just blindly getting one for the LA Times or New York Times, I'm trying to see if there is a general consensus on which national newspaper is the best. By best, I mean the one that has the least biased/partisan coverage of national and international events. I'm sure a lot of you are seasoned news readers so please share with me what you have learned about the newspapers out there. Thanks so much!

now under suspicion herself for her glaring inconsistencies in her account.

"A model who claimed she was raped at the Manchester United Christmas party may be charged herself, it was claimed last night.

Police sources say there are glaring inconsistencies between the written, audio and video statements by the 26-year-old woman. "

IF this woman lied, she should receive actual jail time for this.

a) She is completely undermining genuine rape victim cases

b) She had the potential to destroy a mans life and reputation.

c) Wasting police time that could have been spent investigating REAL crimes.

Should she not receieve an appropriate sentence for this? And Im talking about actually sitting in a jail, not some suspended sentence rubbish.

When you think of the year that has gone by, do you feel sad, that another year is over, hopeful, that the new year will be better, how do you feel?

BETHLEHEM, West Bank (AFP) - Israeli guards beat five demonstrators, including one dressed as Father Christmas, during a protest on Friday against Israel's separation barrier in the West Bank, organisers said.

About 50 Palestinian, Israeli and international peace activists attended the rally in the village of Um Salomona, near Bethlehem, the Biblical birthplace of Jesus that is preparing to celebrate Christmas.

Israeli border guards armed with truncheons briefly detained one activist and beat another five during the rally, the organisers told AFP, adding that one was wearing a Santa Claus costume.

An Israeli army spokesman said there had been disorder at the protest and that several demonstrators who were briefly detained were subsequently released.

Israel says the massive barrier of electric fencing, barbed wire and concrete walls built across the West Bank is needed to stop potential attackers from infiltrating the country and attacking Jewish settlements on Arab land.

The Palestinians say the project is aimed at grabbing their land and undermining the viability of their promised state.

In 2004, the International Court of Justice issued a non-binding ruling that parts of the 650-kilometre (410-mile) barrier criss-crossing the West Bank are illegal and should be torn down. Israel has vowed to complete the project.

not to be vulgar....it's just a theoretical question

do you think a real assignation attempt will be put upon him by a fringe hate group or twisted individual? i not talking about you're typical empty threat which every president and leader gets no matter what their politics are from the looney bin. sadly, there's a John Wilkes Booth, Nathuram Godse, Charlie Guiteau, Gavrilo Princip, Yigal Amir, and Lee Harvey in every generation so-to-speak.

i mean, you look at these rallies in Iowa and interactions at N.H. and it seems as if any one of these people if they were so inclined and demented could seriously get away with such an nefarious action. i know there's security, screening, and the Secret Service involved, but there's no such thing as a sure-bet in terms of safety.

Anybody else think Obama is making a big mistake associating himself with former Clinton workers?
Honestly, why would you want former Clinton workers praising and endorsing you and then pointing this out?

1. The Clinton government is not considered all that great in retrospect. Just because the Clinton years are considered "somewhat better" than the current Bush government run at the White House does not make you worthy of a vote or even consideration.

2. You are basically saying "Hey, look at me, I'm Bill Clinton version 2.0 because I'm going to do the same things he did with people like this around me." You're also saying that you really are no different than your main rival Hilary Rodham Clinton. The only differences ,being superficial, between you two is that she is a caucasian female and yourself a male of white and black ancestry.

3. You're scaring or making independent voters apprehensive bringing in the allusions to Clinton and his big time players and supporters.

Put these words to the tune of winter wonderland.pmsl
Lacy things -- the wife is missin',
Didn't ask -- her permission,
I'm wearin' her clothes,
Her silk pantyhose,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear.

In the store -- there's a teddy,
Little straps -- like spaghetti,
It holds me so tight,
Like handcuffs at night,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear.

In the office there's a guy named Melvin,
He pretends that I am Murphy Brown.

He'll say, "Are you ready?" I'll say,"Whoa, Man!"
"Let's wait until our wives are out of town!"

Later on, if you wanna,
We can dress -- like Madonna,
Put on some eyeshade,
And join the parade,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear!

Lacy things... missin',
Didn't ask... permission,
Wearin' her clothes,
Her silk pantyhose,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear.

Walkin' 'round in women's underwear,
Walkin' 'round in women's underwear

A jumbo jet is about to depart these shores and never to land.
It may have been taken by aliens or disappeared into the stratosphere. Either way, it is never returning to earth

You have been chosen to select 5 individuals (from anywhere in the world) to take a seat on that plane.

Who's it going to be. (apart from me of course)

This is not really a subject for the other faiths except for the one he was christened into and the one he has just been allowed into - but all are free to comment. As a Roman Catholic i feel badly let down that this lying toadying toe rag has been allowed into the Church. I could not believe my eyes a couple of years ago when i saw him go to the altar and receive holy communion with his family. As a non-catholic he was not allowed to do that, but did so for the cameras! What does that tell any of us who are trying to bring up our children properly ? If you are the Prime Minister of Great Britain you can lie and cheat your way into and out of anything and everything? That is just how it feels!!
