Whatever, the losers will be of course the shoppers who spends more than they can afford it constantly amazes me the attitude by many is,
Buy now, Pay later?unfortunately, they then find they have not got the money to pay, when later arrives.
Common sense seems to have got lost in the process.

I work in a small supermarket- come convenience store in Cornwall, and for the past week, it has been deathly quiet. Even the lottery suffered tonight, and for almost an hour I didn't see one customer in the shop, the pub opposite was totally empty, and there wasn't a single car on the busy main road outside the shop. Usually, we get lots of tourists down for Christmas, but not a single stranger, have I seen so far. It is soooooooo spooky, and very worrying, as all the local traders have stocked up for Christmas, but no one is buying. We havn't even had the usual alcoholics in tonight.
I know times are hard, but I didn't realise how hard, until a few days ago. I just hope the next 2 days shows an improvement.

Every year we read stories about how holiday sales are disappointing. Every single year.
It sounds to be like expectations have been a little too high over that time, at least in public. My guess is, business performance in December mirrors the rest of the year, except that it is magnified. If you have a good October, you probably will have a good December (relatively speaking).

Well a lot of the stores have got Christmas sales on now, they will do anything to get money. I have bought a lot off play.com this year. I think there will be a re session before long, prices are going up and up, but the wage seems to be staying the same.
People coming up to me offering credit cards, which I can't afford to pay back is ridiculous, alike many other vulnerable people, will just end up in debt, but do they care.... NO!!!

So far, in the States Christmas sales are down from just last year by 9%. So if it turns out to be an okay season it won't be as good as the retail bloc hoped for!!
