I know that changing denominations has more political implications in the UK than in the US, and this no doubt is why he waited until he left the office of Prime Minister to make the official conversion. But as he was High Church Anglican already, I don't think changing to the Roman Catholic Church would be quite so dramatic as you suggest.

He was crucified on a cross, next to Jesus.
This thief was definitely in the twilight of his life. He was reviling Jesus, with the other criminal, then the thief saw the truth. He was forgiven & told he would be in paradise.
Perhaps we should all look at our lives this Christmas [myself included] & seek forgiveness?
