Capitalism generally refers to an economic and social system in which the means of production are all or mostly privately[1][2] owned and operated for profit, and in which investments, distribution, income, production and pricing of goods and services are determined through the operation of a market economy.
Socialist economics is a broad, and sometimes controversial, term. A normative definition held by many socialists states that all socialist economic theories and arrangements are united by the desire to achieve greater equality and give the workers greater control of the means of production. Within the limits set by these principles, however, socialist economics can take many different forms. Another, less normative definition would define Socialist Economics as descriptive analysis of the economics of existing socialist systems.

I am a capitalist. capitalism works where ever it is tried. Socialism has never worked for long any where it has been tried. Socialism is actually about control of the masses be a few elitists.

Everyone everywhere is a bit of both. Some places/people are 50-50, others 20-80, others 90-10, etc. There are no pure systems/people anywhere.
School rooms/buses, all types of insurance, etc, are slightly socialistic. Any form of currency, marketing, or barter, is somewhat capitalistic.
I am predominantly capitalistic, as I privately own things. I am somewhat socialistic, because I own insurance policies, and have paid into/recieved out of Social Security, and ride city buses, etc. Neither system is all good, or all bad, and no one can be entirely one, or the other. To think otherwise is to be an ignorant tool of the brainwashers.

I am much more of a socialist. I have read widely and come to the conclusion that this, for me is the way forward. Capitalism, to me, seems entirely devoid of any saving graces as an ideology. It benefits those with money, but rarely benefits anyone else.
And plus, any capitalist worth his money (pardon the pun) and who truly knows his stuff, wouldn't post directly from wikipedia. I would be more interested why YOU are a capitalist, not in what it entails, most of us already know that.

I'm a communist, because communism would save the lives of the 18 million people who die each year due to poverty.
Over a billion people are without access to clean water. If that's the best capitalism can do then it's criminally flawed.
The avatar is ironic.

Doesn't work on paper? They said that about space travel.
Besides, capitalism fails spectacularly in practice - unless you think 18 million people dying each year due to things like lack of food is evidence of success?
Personally, I think it's disgusting that half the world will be getting fat for the next week while much of the other half doesnt know where their next meal is coming from.

A little bit of both. I like the idea of ownership but some people get carried away and they need limitations. if you're a Capitalist you should also be courteous to those less fortunate.
