does it undermine national security when publications like usa today and the new york times expose things our government does (for example keeping detailed records of phone calls that individuals make) that may be against/above the law? or do you feel that the public has a right to know, and the media are well within their rights? does the need to know transcend the need for secrecy? why or why not?

PV Chacko is the person behind what could be one of the biggest scams ever. He claims it to have been running now for 32 years. His con scheme LIS DEEPASTHAMBHAM PROJECT is facing closure even as he tries to endure the heat. To know Chacko, it takes to know the scheme he runs. He's a qualified Chartered Accountant from India. Yet he defies even commonsense by assuring 200% return in 70 weeks. The scheme, though technically illegal in India, had been running in full media glare till 10 May 2005, when the firm that runs the business was raided by the police. More details on Chacko and LIS DEEPASTHAMBHAM PROJECT can be had at http://www.lisdsp.org.

I ask this question because there is an argument about the media and Iraq. My friend seems to think things are not as bad as the media is reporting. I say it is. I think the number of police officer killed here is far smaller than that of soldiers and separatly Iraqi security forces killed in Iraq. Such a statistic would prove that things are as bad as the media is reporting

In the search it should be possible to specify that the results should only include weblogs that have full text feeds. It would be even better if was also possible to filter the results based on whether or not the feeds included advertising or not.

The NY Times published information regarding the financial transaction tactics of terror suspects. There has been a call for the prosecution of the NY Times.

Should that information not be kept secret from the press, and should not the ones who leaked said information not be prosecuted for leaking said information? Is the blame being put on the press fairly, or unfairly? Do you feel that this is evidence of a state run press in America?

Is a free press responsible for publishing information that can jeopardize national security?

I was watching The View today and they announced that Ms. Walters was getting a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (I think that is the correct name for it.). But if I remember correctly Ryan Seacrest already got one. I am just trying to figure out how he gets a Star before Barbara Walters when she has done so many major interviews. It seems to me that whoever is in charge doesn't care about what one has done just how popular they are.
