It's usually a mistake. Most people don't accept the responsibility that comes with having sex - especially in this day and age. First and foremost is the possibility of disease.
Then there's the emotional attachment that a lot people have with sex. To some, it's just about physical pleasure, but to others, it carries some sort of commitment. If both parties aren't on the same page, then there will be trouble.
Third on the list is potential pregnancies. Again, if both participants do not feel the same way about a surprise pregnancy, it could be disaster - not just for the relationship, but for both of their lives. There are financial, emotional, and spiritual decisions that must be made, and if the couple feels differently about which decision to make, it could bother them for the rest of their life.
Unless you are in a mature, adult relationship, premarital sex is usually a very bad idea.

Don't worry about people saying it is a sin or mistake. You can do yourself a favor by making sure you are really going to be happy on all levels of you relationship. A greater sin in my opinion would be getting caught up in a relationship that leads to sadness and disappointment.
Why do some focus on disease and other reasons for avoiding pre-marital sex? Sure getting a disease is possible, but this can be avoided. How is it people want to pick and choose parts of a religion when it is favorable to their position?
As for all this lack of knowledge on preparation, information on this subject is easier to obtain than ever. The bottom line is you have to make your own well informed decision about this element of you life. Only you can determine what is best for your situation.

There would be a whole lot of mistakes walking around, don't you think? It is not good to set out to do that, in that it is such an emotional bonding thing. It ties you to that person in a way hard to explain. It is good to marry first, but if it happens, who knows? Sex was made for a relationship between two people who want to spend their lives together, I think. It is something to think about. Garnet

It can be a mistake because of religious beliefs, age,
not really being ready for sex, or being pressured
into it.
Being a Virgin is a one time thing. No surgery on
earth can change that. Many wished they had waited.

I think that you should have premarital sex because then you won't get a nasty surprise if you husband is bad in bed
