The Associated Press is a cooperative news organization based in New York City. It is owned by its member newspapers and televisions stations It has news bureaus in nearly every state in the U.S. (in mostly larger cities) and in all the major cities around the world.

Reporters in each bureau generally live in the city of the bureau's location, but do a lot of travelling, just like TV, radio and newspaper reporters.

Their sources are in general the same as the ones TV, newspaper and radio people use. However, the news business is competitive and some reporters have more sources than others.

Much of the news you hear from the AP reporters are printed in newspapers and used by TV and radio.

As a former reporter, I can tell you that in my opinion, AP reporters are less biased than the big newspapers (New York Times, L.A. Times) and network folks (FOX. CNN, ABC).
