China's growing pollution reaches U.S.
By TERENCE CHEA, Associated Press Writer
Fri Jul 28, 9:38 PM ET

MOUNT TAMALPAIS STATE PARK, Calif. - On a mountaintop overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Steven Cliff collects evidence of an industrial revolution taking place thousands of miles away.

The tiny, airborne particles Cliff gathers at an air monitoring station just north of San Francisco drifted over the ocean from coal-fired power plants, smelters, dust storms and diesel trucks in China and other Asian countries.

Researchers say the environmental impact of China's breakneck economic growth is being felt well beyond its borders. They worry that as China consumes more fossil fuels to feed its energy-hungry economy, the U.S. could see a sharp increase in trans-Pacific pollution that could affect human health, worsen air quality and alter climate patterns.

Israel pulls out of Hezbollah stronghold
By LEE KEATH, Associated Press Writer

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Israeli troops pulled back from a border town Saturday after a week of heavy fighting with Hezbollah guerrillas, and warplanes killed a woman and her five children in a strike that leveled their home. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice returned to the Middle East to push a refined U.S. peace plan.

Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah marked Rice's arrival with a threat to fire rockets even deeper into Israel. Appearing on Hezbollah television, Nasrallah claimed victory, saying Israel had failed to make a "single military achievement" during its 18-day offensive.

Since last year, I noticed strange lines in the sky, no not contrails from jets, these were different. They stay in the sky and fan out, covering the sky white. I went online and saw they are called "chemtrails", our government is spraying us with an aluminum-based chemical. It is to help with global warming....so they say. All sorts of health problems are concerns, not to mention they may be affecting the weather too.

Have you seen these? Usually the jets spray early mornings/late evenings.

The United States has been having the hottest weather on record. I live in the northeast, and I've seen the difference. I'm a believer in global warming; but what do you think about the weather we've been experiencing? Also, if the weather gets worse, how can we protect ourselves and go about it proactivly?

Why do the women get the most our of divorces? I have seen in so many divorces the man basically getting screwed out of a lot of his stuff and he hardly gets anything. I think women should get what is theres and men should get what is theres. And then men pay a sum of money to the woman. Yes i know the woman went through childbirth and thats why i say they should get a little extra.

This is on the relationship of Paul McCartney. He's getting ready to get a divorce and i hardly find it fair that his wife will get half of what he did and made. He made himself rich and has everything. And now that he will be getting a divorce the woman will get half of his earned estate and money.

What is everyone's thoughts on this.

The US DOD has ordered 3700 more troops to Iraq. At first glance, I said, its about time!, thinking they were pulling that many OUT! The US better start-up the draft to meet all the continuing troop deployments to that area. Soon, the volunteers now coerced Bush cannon fodder might become educated to the real purpose of US involvement in that area of the world i.e. imperialism, economic gain, and oil. (not to mention Bush's deadly ego and arrogance). Then again, another sweep of young US drug addicts and gangsters into that war might be a blessing in disquise!

Unfortunately some Jewish-American people get rich by giving away money for the purpose of supplying weapons to Israel....
Look at Iraq!! Who led the war? The answer is America!!!!!!! the stupid excuse was that there are weapons of mass destruction, but there was no w. m.d. there.... Stupid bush misled all Americans ,and now he even puts the blame on Syria!!!!!! Guys please do not believe that, these are all stupid lies!!!
Who wants to gain profit of this stupid war? America of course when there will be the rebuliding process , American companies will get the commission for the constructions... Disgusting....shame on Jewish -American people

First of all, I'm a teenager and live in the United States. Because of all of the talk of war and continued terrorist attacks and suicide bombings, I'm starting to feel uneasy about the future of my generation. I talked to my mom, and she said she doubts that the war in Iraq will be put to rest in her lifetime. And now, with the crisis in the Mideast, the gas shortage, the Ozone layer... I just don't feel as if my future will be safe. How can I put my unease to rest?

Help us to fly our son home
A FAMILY is desperately trying to raise £10,000 so their son can be flown home after he was badly injured in an accident while on holiday.
The young dad had only been in Ibiza for six hours when he fell in a water fountain early on Tuesday morning.
The 20-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment and an MRI scan showed that he had broken two vertebrae, leaving him paralysed from the chest down. It is believed that the blow to the head caused his brain to produce fluid and the resulting pressure travelled down to his spine.
His distraught mum told the local press: ‘We don’t know if it’s permanent yet, as there’s still too much swelling, but whatever happens we need to get him home and find a place for him to recuperate.
He went to the island on a week’s holiday with a group of friends from The Crown pub. He had also taken his 15-month-old son and his girlfriend.

I find some things interesting here, but most are just pop culture, useless items to me. I'm 50 years old and I consider much of the conversation here immature. There are lots of good things talked about, but can a person narrow it down to a certain focus of ideas? Or is that too much to ask for?
