So that people can have a place to live. But I see your point if we rebuild homes that are still in range of another monster tsunami.

There is nothing wrong with building there, but it has to be the right building.

There was a news report from Florida where they looked at the destruction in a downtown area. Buildings built before 1985 (I believe) were trashed. The reinforced hurricane proof buildings which met the new laws were fine.

Here in Cali, all new buildings and even older ones to be refurbished all need to be earthquake proof.

How about, "Why do they keep putting trailer parks in Tornado Alley?"

If you mean the ones already there, they are most probably been there for decades. Who knew there would be a Tsunami one day.
If you mean, why re-build them after the ocean erupted, you are right they should not, BUT they seem to be very poor and cannot move into the city, they might be used to fishing to gain a living.

Using other people's money enables even the dumbest ideas. If people didn't have the option of not assuming responsibility for their own futures, fewer boondoggles like that would occur.

honestly unless there is something i do not know....i would not re-build after such a terrible tragedy...But i guess, people still want to live there and do not like change...and feel it WON"T happen again!!!again every body is different...some would leave and never return and some would stay...but all and all it was a sad situation...

insanity??? lol... perhaps there is no where else for these people to live and or they are so attached to living in that area and make their living in the area... fishing etc...... though it's a recipe for disaster...people tend to re-build after fiasco's instead of moving...
