Decades of Soviet nuclear testing unleashed a plague of birth defects. When the Soviet Union tested its nuclear devices, it chose eastern Kazakhstan, one of its remotest, most desolate areas. But no one bothered to evacuate the people living there.

The price of oil has risen in the recent days and immediately some gas companies raise their prices. They never paid an increased rate for the gas in their tanks they just increased the price. Do you think they are gouging the consumer. Should the consumer boycott those stations? Check out your neighborhood gas stations.

i heard it was so that we could run their government, that way we get their oil......but what the heck??? who goes to war just for oil?? why kill so many pple, US and the pple in iraq, just to get oil???? there were a couple other questions asking this, but the answers were like way too complicated. so please explain, in plain English, why we would go to war to overrun another country's government, so that we could have control over their oil. correct me if i'm wrong, i dont even know if that's true, its just what i heard. it just seems so irrational that bush would go to such extreme and extremely stupid measures to get oil. is he just stupid or is the war for some other reason?? the whole thing seems kind of dumb and pointless, so, someone, please, explain.

I get my local paper, but i want to subscribe to a more political newspaper, that has more political/government news

Im thinking of getting the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal, because they are both relatively cheap [for home delivery] and have heard that they are good for that type of news....

Which one is better for me to get?

I got an auction catalog by Heritage Auction Galleries and they have a lot that contains Che Guevarra's hair - a clipping and they have an estimate of $100,000 for a small piece of his hair. Why would anyone pay that kind of money for a dead person's hair?

Why don't they get on and do their job of REPORTING, instead of playing guessing games ?
I'm sick of the McCann story, sick of why Ming Campbell went, sick of who killed Diana.
I'd rather wait until the truth comes out , then read about it.
Anyone else feel like this ?

Subject: Fw: Jena 6: Nat'l Black Out Day

Hello everyone, as you may already know, Michayle Bell of the so called
Jena Six has been re-arrested because of some kind of unrelated
violation, his arrest had something to do with the Jena Six Protest, a
technicality I don't understand.
Jena is actually the town where I was born, Michayle is not related to
me. Read the letter below.
Alton / Bell

Hi Everyone,

I don't know where many of you stand regarding the Jena 6 issues, but
the fight continues. I was listening to the Warren Ballentine show on

102.5 in Atlanta and he was talking about a National Black Out day for
us to not spend money. Wherever you stand on the issue of justice, at
the end of the day, money talks and everything else walks. If you are in
support of the Black Out, please read below and forward to everyone you
know and ask them to forward as well. I think if we start putting our
money where our mouth is, people in this country will take us more
seriously. Be sure to bring your lunch on this day as well.

Please spread to at least five other people and make sure you inform
them to send the info to five other people, to spread the word.

National Black Out Day on November 2..Do not make any purchases on this
day but please do not make any major $ amount purchases, the day before
or the day after because then the Black Out will be of no effect. This
is from the Warren Ballentine show; they are asking their listeners to
spread the word for those who may not listen to the show. This is the
second phase from the Jena 6 and many other cities and people of color
are facing similar situation like the Jena 6.

Here is a link to find out a little more about him and his show:

but yourself.
Let me elaborate:

A 33 year old Tipperary (Ireland) man gets life imprisonment for a heinous crime, but he only has himself to blame for being caught:

Sgt O'Riordan said that when Crowe was interview he asked gardaí what evidence they had against him. They told him he had been identified at the scene. Crowe replied "that's bullshit. Nobody saw me. I had a balaclava and gloves."

Justice, is served, clang !!!

If only all criminals were as stupid as him, would make the police's job a lot easier wouldn't it.

this city has grown tremendously in the past 5 years and this guy is doing things that seem impossible (manmade islands in the design of the world, erecting a building twice the height of the empire state building and creating 70km of beachfront property from desert land)..i just wonder how this is all possible in such a short time with a major war going on.....we have microsoft, and ibm, and media orgs like cnn, reuters, ap, and mbc over there...no problem with that but in interviews with the sheik he said " i want my people to be #1" and when asked what he wanted to be #1 at he said education, health, economy.....not once does he mention anything about warfare, military, or govt....this is an oil based city with seemingly unlimited resources and the sheik admits to putting his own money up for the projects...with the vast, fast and seemingly unreal growth of this city should we not worry about possible future attacks? or is this truly a peaceful city with good intentions?
