i heard it was so that we could run their government, that way we get their oil......but what the heck??? who goes to war just for oil?? why kill so many pple, US and the pple in iraq, just to get oil???? there were a couple other questions asking this, but the answers were like way too complicated. so please explain, in plain English, why we would go to war to overrun another country's government, so that we could have control over their oil. correct me if i'm wrong, i dont even know if that's true, its just what i heard. it just seems so irrational that bush would go to such extreme and extremely stupid measures to get oil. is he just stupid or is the war for some other reason?? the whole thing seems kind of dumb and pointless, so, someone, please, explain.

WMD means weapons of mass destruction like atomic bombs (remember Hiroshima and nagasaki?) that was the excuse bush used to get support from the people to go to war with Iraq, but they never found weapons of mass destruction.
The truth from the beginning is that the war was ment to destroy the government in Iraq and create a new one that will sell cheap oil to the USA and let them build permanent military bases in Iraq for future wars, like the soon to come Iran war, only because Iran is also sitting on alot of oil.
OIl is not going to last forever, the government knows this and wants to safe keep as many oil sources as they can, by doing this they can also regulate oil sales to everyone else and put embargos on enemies like Cuba, North Korea and many more.
Bush and the other politicians don't care about how many die, because they will never fight on the battlefield. It's the rich man's war and the poor man's battle.

The war in Iraq is palinly an illegal war!!!! Apparently Bush's reason to go to war was that there were weapons of mass destruction being made in Iraq but 6 yrs on have any been found uhh NOOO due to America's and other countries I'm not quite sure about interfernce with Iraq millions have died the majority being innocent Iraqi's children who have done nothing whatsoever wrong have been brutally murdered at the hands of GEORGE W BUSH and in my opnion that makes him no better than Saddam who coincedently was executed on live television I think the same should be done to Bush he is a murderer and deserves to be punishd for the mass murder of not only innocent Iraqis but also British, American and other troops. He sent many nations soldiers to die acroos the sea just for oil, to show his immense power and just because he knew he could get away with it. Iraq has now resulted to civil war that civillians are now fighting eachother and killing oneanother this was not happening before the invasion but does Bush realise and admit his mistake and try and correct it now he carries on denying denyin denying I have no clue how he is still alive now I think I'll stop now before I say something I'll regret bbut those who say Al Qaieda was running in iraq and that is the reason for the war no it wasnt Al Qaieda is running everywhere I know myself there are terrorists in Engalnd America evrywhere in the world to be frank so that is not even a reason it is more like a pathetic excuse

Politics. The USA is in Iraq for many reasons and yes they are doing some humanitarian work, an example is the Australian military contingent in Iraq right now building schools, plumbing, roads etc.but despite all the rhetoric and debate the principal and i would have to admit the main reason the Americans are there is oil.

IMHO, the war is all about oil..
think about this,
North Korea is the only communist country in the world, they boasted that they have nuclear missile, US government placed embargo and held talks, when they tested their nuclear in underground facility, US government held talks, when they don't want to close the uranium factories, US government held talks..
We can see that the for country that don't produce oil, US just held talks, even though the country have WMD, uranium factories, and a dictator..

How about because Saddam wanted us to. Saddam Hussein thwarted every attempt to ascertain that he was abiding by the restrictions put on him by the UN. But kept playing games, attempting to make us think he had far more fire power than it turned out he actually did.
Those that say we went their for the oil are simply spouting the rhetoric of the anti war protesters. At on point in time did we ever say we were going their for the oil, it was at one time touted that the war would not be that expensive because once we liberated Iraq from Saddam, they could reimburse ou for our cost in the war from the sale of oil.
But from the very beginning we stated we where going to help Iraq set up their own government and they could do however they pleased once the government was in place.
In order for what the anti Bushers are saying to be true, you have t ignore the facts, that the Democrats knew as much as the Republicans before the war, yet they all voted to authorize it.
Where as I agree Bush Royally screwed up, there is no substance to the accusations that it was entirely his war. They claim he is an idiot yet at the same time claim he masterminded a plot to involve a multinational task force to fight a war that every one new was wrong.
What is wrong with you people. Their isn't a government in the world with that much competence. Let alone the U.S. government.

Bush doesn't even know. although he says he would have gone in anyway. he's a liar. but bush probably regrets going into iraq. do u think that u can just invade a country and send its culture into turmoil without consequence? of course not. The american deficite is in the trillions and fighting a war which costs billions to support everyday isn't helping. America is in a mess and sticking in Iraq isn't helping america or its international relations.

The US and Iraq are not at war and haven't been for several years. The previous Iraqi government was not living up to its treaty obligations dating from the previous war, and Mr. Bush finally decided enough was enough. The new government and the US are working together to stabilize the country, but the new government isn't well enough developed yet to stand on its own, and there are lots of people in Iraq trying to displace the government while the US is trying to support it.

Where have you been the last year or so, don't you watch the news?
It was thought they had weapons of mass destruction, or chemical weapons, and they were a terrorist training facility, and they tried to kill George W's daddy when he was president. So W. thought it a good idea to go in and take away the Weapons and chemical destructive devices, but he couldn't find them (yet they still may exist)
Al Quadia (terrorist) have been entering the country and fighting along side Saddam Husain's loyalist in effort to kill as many Americans as possible. so on it goes, but a lot of headway has been made clearing out these insurgents, and the country is closer than ever to self government.
The USA would never try to run another country, or take their oil un-fairly, However, they may strike up some deals for a better relationship, through the oil trade. I doubt people like you and me would ever hear about such deals though.

Of course "Grab the Oil" was near the top on the list of things-to-do, but it wasn't the main reason we went into Iraq. Our government felt threatened by the possibility of WMD's, and, let's face it, the world is a slightly better place to be without Saddam Hussein.
The majority of people who believe we went into Iraq "For the Oil" just believe what anyone tells them, as long as it agrees with their small dogmatic mind complex of mass conspiracy.
