i am repeating this for the last time-otherwise i will report this person. i have NOT reported anyone since i have joined yahoo answers but am considering it since i have been named by somebody on here several times as giving them thumbs down and reporting them. yahoo answers moderators will be able to see that it was not me so i am hoping they can help. i think yes-definitely we should be able to know who reports us as then there would not be situations where you are accused in the wrong.

Surely if something is reported to Y/A then they don't just delete it without looking at it? And doesn't it have to be reported by several people? I've never felt the need to do it yet so I'm not sure what happens. If I think someone is talking rubbish then they get the thumbs down from me or I will put a footnote to them at the end of my answer. If I just disagree with their point of view then I don't give thumbs down. We're all entitled to our opinions, isn't that what Y/A is all about?

I don't know, but I tell you some people deserve to be reported I was looking at answers not long ago and I had a look at a link given as an answer, what do you know?!?!? a virus that I had a lot of trouble getting of. Now I had every right to report that person but I never did. On reflection I should have and for future reference I will.

Yahoo will not reveal the identity of the person that reported you. That's a fact that surely would be nice to know. Yahoo also will not tell you what you did to get reported. They will usually cite "legal reasons" for not giving a reason for the violation. It would help to know what we did wrong in the past, to keep from doing it again in the future.

Awhile back I also got a violation notice from yahoo. If I thought I was in the slightest bit wrong I would have accepted it. But no way was I wrong on this one, so I challenged the violation.
Of course I never received any news as to if the violation was rescinded or not..but it gave me satisfaction to go down fighting!

If you knew who it was, would you not get your own back, and report them? I think so. I know without being told, who reported me. It was all in the question anyway

I've only been reported once ( a few days ago when I asked Adam if he had a life) but the email told me what question it was and it didn't take too much to figure out who it was.

I just got reported for the mildest of responses to a question about reality TV.
When I compare what I said to other things I see on here which are so rude I feel angry .
But I suppose that is the way this is set up so you just have to grin and bear it.
