You know, when you post a question, it will list similar questions already posted. You could save yourself some points, as I have answered this many times already. But then, I suspect the posters of this question don't care so much for a factual answer. But, just in case you do. . .

Here is the rationale:

"The Norwegian Nobel Committee said global warming, 'may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states.'". . .
Jan Egeland, a Norwegian peace mediator and former U.N. undersecretary for humanitarian affairs, also called climate change more than an environmental issue.

"'It is a question of war and peace,' said Egeland, now director of the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs in Oslo. 'We're already seeing the first climate wars, in the Sahel belt of Africa.' He said nomads and herders are in conflict with farmers because the changing climate has brought drought and a shortage of fertile lands."

If an indigenous population is forced to move out to other regions as a result of the effects of global warming on their land then the probability of conflict increases.(Hence the Peace Prize)

you will forgive me if i do no longer save song of the Runners-Up in Nobel Prize rivalry. yet algore have been given his for a action picture. Like Obama have been given his for triumphing an erection. It skill no longer something, and thanks to this I now no longer pay any interest to it. Edit; To be user-friendly, English Al-jazeera is not greater a terrorist sponsor than PMS-NBC, or PBS/NPR. yet they are owned via the government of Qatar, that's relatively and Oil corporation. it is fairly Hypocritical of Algor.

I am in Norway, and the comittee chooses people that in someway advance peace, and they figured that if people are truly on the path of destroying its own world then all out global war is inevitable.. Good Earth.. Good Life.. No global Wars!! thats why he won.. Dafur is a very good example.. the fight is over resources...
