You are free from persecution or imprisonment by the government for open criticism of the government or voicing your opinion. It does not mean you can say what ever you want, as private organizations or parties can justly sue you for slander.

these days no one has freedom of speech anymore because you can get in trouble for anything you say, so i wouldn't consider it freedom of speech. even here on answers!

The right to say what you wish. Even if it offends someone else. Not the right to lie. But the right to voice any opinion you want.
