I say no. The reason is that he will become a martyr to his cause and as has been seen in the past this fuels religious extremism. A small group of extremists can do alot of damage. He doesn't deserve to become a martyr, he is a common killer, let him rot in a maxium security prison for the rest of his life. Then he will be forgotten and there is always a new killer to take his place. Plus showing mercy to this creep will better our image on the planet.

i live in the uk and am 14
ok so if one of the UNs main aims is to stop wars between countries and is to help countires of poorer nations, and USA is a major part of the UN then why did Bush declare war on Iraq? i dont understand. doesnt he know he is just contradicting himself by saying hes going to help poorer nations and then declaring war on them. isnt this just creating more poverty? and arent more people just dying? i dont get it!

How could we sit back and let a 69 year old person be sentanced to death? We only hear what the goverment want us to hear, may be he was not as bad of a person that we have been made to believe. I and many other people think that it should be Bush that should face crimes as he as killed many more people than Saddam Hussean as meant to have. This is all wrong and I am praying for Saddam Hussein right now and hope for his release on appeal. After all he is not the killer it is Bush.

I'm tired of this country treating me like I'm addicted to everything.
If you go to a convienence store all you see are potatoe chips - why, because they have no need to put food there if people stumble in and get their chips. Well much the same with the media the federal government and big business. We are now to accept Saddam capital punishment as the great american motivator. Nothing needs to be said as who was listining anyway?
It seems to me it would be diffucult to prove his guilt and I would like to have seen the trial.

I mean is their going to be a video of his hanging? Some people want to make sure he hasn't escaped his fate by conspiracy or anything.

One of the guards tried to put Saddam's arms down as he swung them in the air at the judge when his sentence was givin to him. Saddam knocked the guards arms down in such defiance, almost as arrogant as his attitude towards the judge.
Say the word Saddam, backwards, and that's what he is!

He has been sentenced to death by hanging for crimes against humanity in the 1982 killings of 148 people in a single Shiite town. Is this sufficient punishment? If not, what should the punishment (if any) be?

I'm in favor of a more brutal punishment, such as stoning. What are your thoughts?
