I think Saddam Hussein's trial was a sham, instigated by the Bush administration from the very beginning, because the Bush family has had a personal vendetta against Hussein ever since the days of Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was criticized for not 'finishing the job' and killing Saddam then.
The U.S. illegally and unconstitutionally invaded Iraq because of the Bush's grudge against Hussein - and because Dick Cheney wants all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so that he and his Exxon-Mobil buddies could get richer and richer and richer. It had nothing to do with bringing democracy to Iraq or deposing a despot; it had everything to do with 'settling the score' and greed.
Had Iraq been a larger, more powerful country, the U.S. would have never bullied its way in; had there been no OIL in Iraq, the U.S. would have never bothered its dictator. If that's not the case, why isn't the U.S. tumbling the dictatorships of other despots around the globe, such as those in the Sudan?? Simple: the Sudan and other dictatorships have no rich fields of easily-accessible OIL, so let the genocide, rape and murder continue.
If the situation were reversed, George W. Bush would be the one facing a noose around his neck. -RKO-

Well, he is to be hung, not for having weapons of mass destruction, but trying to commit genocide against the Kurds and killing lots of others while in power. Do I think it is right? Well not my decision as he was tried by his own country, not the U.S.. Will there be fall out from hit hurting the U.S., most likely as people will think that the U.S. should not have invaded Iraq.
He was a bad dictator, so like Hitler, I have no problem with him dieing. However, I wish they would catch Osama Bin Ladin and kill him instead.

While he may or may not have had weapons of mass destruction, some of the things that he did to his owm people were horrible. I think that is what the trial focused on more than anything. He is an evil man. At least in our country, you can speak out against the president or other political figures without fear of your life or that of your family. Not so with Saddam. I think he got what he deserved.

Puts the other Islamic dictators on notice, that the USA can and will create the environment that will enable their people to rise up and extract justice from dictators. USA has the power and might to do this......and it is a good thing the USA does not abuse its power, but only uses its power to enable fairness, justice, and implementation of civilized (non Islamo-fascist) societies.

He was in court for killing thousands of people. Not because of WMD's ! And he's not at the top of my worry list. What about the 2,800+ American's who have died there ? 20,000+ wounded ?
