Hi. I live in an HDB flat and am trying to drill holes in a wall to ifix some shelves. I barely drill 0.5cm and i come across some what I believe is some iron or metal in the conrete and i am unable to drill further. A using a black and decker with a silver drill bit ideal for concrete. Has anyone come across this problem? Also does anyone know any person who would come and help out (like a handyman) at a cost of course. Hope this helps. Thanks. Chris

I'm planning on washing the ceiling, and the only idea I have come up with is using a sponge-mop so far. Anyone have any other ideas to make this easier?

In the toilet tank, there is a tube that runs down from the water level to the tank bottom. There is a small hose that drips into the hose. The hose is connected to this other thing that stands top to bottom in the tank and that thing is connected to the flush handle on the outside. The hose began dripping, frequently, into the tube. Now it's pretty much running all the time. How can I fix it or should I call a plumber? Thanks

I pre-ninse before loading. Is there a drain trap in the bottom that could be clogged or something that needs to be cleaned? I'm trying to avoid buying another, and I'm pretty handy if I know what I'm doing.

I have a pottery vase that has been broken at one part at the back of the vase. I tried gluing the pieces back together, but they don't quite fit together and there are many pieces missing because they been turn to dust. All I want is just something to fill in the gaps, cover it up, and maybe mask it with a similar color. The break is in the back so it doesn't have to be perfect.

I'm not sure how this happened but I have a door that has pulled away from the frame at the top. There's two hinges that attach the door to the frame and they are recessed into the frame (there's a spot cut out of the door frame for the hinge as when it closes, the door needs to be flush with the wall.

Since it's recessed, it's not easy to move the hinge up or down. The places where the screws attach the hinge to the wall are stripped out completely. As I see it my options are to try to patch the screw holes or use larger screws. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks!

I have bought some rather fancy stainless steel lights for under the cabinets in my kitchen. The light is in a sealed unit and has two wires coming out of it. I have the 4W ballast and starter but I am not sure how to wire it up with only 2 inputs to the light fitting. Can anyone help?

I have a 2-story townhouse (3 BR, 1330 sq. ft.). The indoor part of the unit is upstairs. When it is cold out (probably 35F or less) the heat pump only blows air without heat and it's freezing in my house, especially downstairs. The unit and house are only 11 years old. The volts say 208/230 and horsepower is 1/2.

How can I get it to be warm again? My living room/kitchen are unbearable to be in. I am planning to have the ductwork cleaned and the heat pump coils cleaned next week. But I know that can't be all. Help!

an owner of a unit (yet to be determined), put cat litter down the drain and caused over $50K in damage to another unit. the condo association insurance company has declined coverage because the association was not at fault. the plumber has said that the clog was caused by kitty litter. now the association is going to impose a special assessment or increase dues on the entire condo unit in order to pay for the repairs. i should not have to pay for someone else's intentional act. and i'm sure putting kitty litter down the drain is against CCR or condo rules. can i fight this?

I'll try to make this as simple as I can. We have an underground storage cistern between our well and house. For reasons I can explain (if necessary) the cistern was pumped dry. Now it has been refilled, but the in house pump cannot draw water from it. Our plumber has suggested that the stand pipe in the cistern, for some reason, has not re-primed, and we must uncover the cistern and reprime the stand pipe. Any comments or suggestions? Our plumber, while good, admits he is NOT an expert on wells or cisterns.

I have water pressure issues. My pressure at any faucet is good until I us another faucet. For example, when I'm in the shower and someone flushes the toilet, I lose pressure and hot water in the shower. Some times when I'm in the shower and someone flushes the toilet I lose cold water and pressure. I lose pressure in all my facets, and the toilets fill slow when I'm using another facet. I have gas heat for and a new hot water heater. I figured it may be that my hot water heater was bad or small (30 gal). I had it replaced with a new one that is 50 gal. The problem has been this way since I bought the house some 5 years ago.

and you can even see the water on the wall, the water goes to about half way up the wall from the floor. I had always worried that the building had some serious issues the landlord was trying to hide, but I am really worried. Whats going to happen if this doesnt get taken care of? How serious is it? She has complained of water on her floors in 3 rooms of the house and this has been going on for months, do we need to be worried about mold? We are going to move in a couple of months, but I dont want the damn building caving in or something crazy. Help! I should add the landlord is a cheap p.o.s and will not fix anything so chances are nothing will be done about the issue.
