I have a small front garden with a couple of very small strips of grass alongside the drive way and path.. as it is so small it is a pain to cut the grass so i was thinking on lifting the grass and putting somthing down in its place that basically that is it and i shouldnt really have to do anything with.. i was thinking on putting bark or gravel stones down.. what would you do? also how do i stop weeds from coming up and through the bark or stones?

thanks in advance

Corn is ALWAYS grow together and they never die. Grass too, is always grown together and never dies. So, it there another plant that won't die when overcrowded? Do you guys know any plants that will die if there is even, 2 plants in the same pot?

We have stored in Portugal about 22 tons of rough green aventurin quartz, origin: Brasil. Is used for jewellery, spheres, landscape projects, decorative fountains, sculptures and other decorative and creative items. If wet or polished is greenest. It has fuchsita inclusions.

I bought it in April as a 6'' plant and it's now about 6'. It's growing in a large pot and is about to flower. Should I cut it back? How far and when? Should I get rid of the side shoots? When should I put it in the greenhouse for the winter, and how much should I water it? I live in Cornwall close to the sea if that helps.
Many thanks in advance for your advice. I really appreciate it.

I have tried to kill a tree by cutting the tree down to the roots. I have even put motor oil for the roots to die but the tree still resurfaces. Any ideas on how to kill a mature tree permanently?

I am about to lay down pebbles in my front yard, but have had conflicting advice about the use of weedmatting. What was there previously, under the scoria, proved to be useless.

I've never planted a garden, but I'd like to grow some veggies next year. Is there some way to get that going now in the fall? I live in NY. Any ideas on what a first-timer should grow?

For example: I know that if you plant grass, it will not die even though it is extremely over crowded. But is there a plant that may die if there is like 2 or more plants planted in the same pot?

FYI - For Southern states and specifically the Lorepetalum (Sp?) bush. Also, the Gardenia Bush? Does it need to be before or after a frost?

They are about 5 years old and have seemed to be growing ok. But lately they are dying. I keep them watered and fertilize them a few times a year.

I have some hostas in a rock garden, in a very shady spot, that look just terrible, holes all over the leaves, and I know it's from slugs. Honestly, rather than combat the slugs, I think I'd like to plant something else there, something low or shrub-like maybe. I live in Michigan, for zone reference.

Anyone have ideas for plants that could do well in a spot like this? Looking for something fairly easy, low to medium maintenance.

Moved into a new home this summer, starting a few weeks ago the acorns started falling, hundreds, maybe thousands of them!!! All over the lawn, the garden, bouncing off the metal shed, the house, people etc. What is the best way to remove them? Hard to rake or blow with a leaf blower.

I have a succulent (not sure of the kind, but it has a stem and radiating leaves) and it keeps growing up tall, instead of out. The bottom leaves don't grow any bigger, it just keeps growing taller, and it's starting to lean.
Can I cut it back? If so, where exactly do I cut? And can I propagate from the cuttings?
Thanks

Are there any natural ways to kick foxes out of your garden like black pepper or something ? They are digging up bits of my garden and generally screaming like a child being boiled in oil.

Any tips ? and yes I am aware I can shhot them on my own property but i was hoping for something a little less murderous.

Thanks

I sprayed some broadleaf weed spray on the lawn yesterday, and understand that I have to now wait 3 weeks before seeding.

Is it maybe possible to only wait 2 weeks btw?

I dont know when we usually get are first frost, but I know this summer has been very unusually hot and we are still getting very warm weather 90 degrees today.

I want a "non-chemical" or natural approach if at all possible. The little leaves of my plants are being eaten at quite a rapid rate - just noticed in the past 2 days - have picked off about 20 of them so far.
