Try tying fabric softner sheets to your plants in several places. Or you can put blood meal around the base of your plants. You can also put marigolds around your garden. I guess the smell keeps them away.

Get some predator urine like coyote, bobcat, or fox. This will help keep small animals like squirrels, rabbits, moles, and other garden rodent pests away, making them think a real fox or other predator is nearby.

You can also buy a large bird of prey decoy, like an owl or hawk, and mount it in a nearby tree or on a fence. The problem with using a decoy is you want to move it around, so the pests don't get accustomed to it, or realize that it's not real. The site I posted in the Source also has decoys. The one I like is the owl decoy you can hang from a tree branch to keep birds away, but I imagine you can hang it off a pole near your tomato plants. It looks convincing if the wind blows it just right.
