I have a flat that covers 2 levels, there are floorboards upstairs and downstairs but the stairs are concrete. Could i attach a wood covering to them or has anyone got a better suggestion of what to do with these dangerous steep stairs?

We haven't moved into the house yet, but was told that the central heat still works, but the central air does not. Does anyone know if it would be cheaper to just buy a whole new unit, or try to get the central air fixed? Thanks!

I am buying a house and the den has wooden paneling up. I don't necessarily want to rip it out and start all over at this point, but I would like to do something with it that would brighten the den up. Any suggestions?

I plan to bleed my radiators for the first time. I've read that If you have a gravity filled system the system will look after itself but if you have a combi boiler, the pressure will need to be checked after bleeding. How do I know what I have? The boiler is an "HB Smith G200 Series" that is about 30 yrs old. Thanks.

I have 3 light fixtures, 2 of which looked like the bulbs were burnt out so when I put in new bulbs and they still didn't work, I learned that's because the ballast needs to be replaced. There is 1 more light fixture that is a two-lamp fixture, and one of the bulbs has burnt out and the other one is still working but the light is very dim. I'm wondering if that fixture needs to get the ballast replaced too because someone told me that if there is light, then the ballast does not need to be replaced.

My wife thinks that some of the vents in our house is blowing cold air. I admit that the air coming out of some vents in the smaller rooms feels warmer than other vents in the larger rooms. Is it possible that some vents could blow cooler air while other vents blows warmer air?

It seems like after a year and a half, they start leaking at the connections. Not where they screw on to the spigot but right under that. What am I doing wrong?

I have an electrical curcit that is working but it has 4 volts of feedback. I changed a switch and when I went to screw it back into the metal box, there was a small spark. I checked it with a meter and found that there was 4 volts AC between the box and the metal part of the switch. I checked all of the grounds from the box to the switch but didn't find anything loose. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this????
