I have a flat that covers 2 levels, there are floorboards upstairs and downstairs but the stairs are concrete. Could i attach a wood covering to them or has anyone got a better suggestion of what to do with these dangerous steep stairs?

You could fit Amtico or Cardene floor covering. It's not cheap but you can get wood effect. It is like strips of lino that is glued down to well smooth and prepared surfaces.

Then fit tread edging strips. A local company should be able to quote, supply and fit everything.

If you put wood or laminate onto the treads then they will look as if you have temporary protectors on the stairs. Why not just fit a carpet up the stairs and this will hide the concrete and deaden any sound. They would also not ever get slippery and would look more elegant.

Get grooves cut into them and then get the concrete polished smooth like marble it looks great!
