An old water conditioner came with the house I bought. Hoiuse used to be well water but is city water now. The conditioner is very old and yucky, not being used valves are off.

The conditioner is close to the water meter out in the open in the basement. I need to cut about 6 inches of pipe to remove the conditioner. Pipe is 3/4 inch copper and the section I would remove is a few feet from the meter. After making the cut I would run the new pipe perpendicular to the floor. Only need about 6inches to run straight up and down to complete the project.

Can I use a flex line and a sharkbite compression fitting to make this work? or is this not adviseable?

Thanks.

the flower turns red as it dies off, the "flower bulb" base looks like avacado leaves in its presentation around the flower with a pricker/spike at the end of each leaf. The leaves are hard, almost cactus like. It has mutliple branches off the one stem. This is the first time I have ever seen this plant emerge. It is coming up in wood mulch, next to hen & chicks. Wish I could include a picture, I cannot find this plant anywhere.

I'm living in a rented house, and the chick I rented from said it's OK to paint the walls... they were an awful sage-colored gloss, and I painted them to a maroon (3 walls) and black (1 wall) with semi-gloss paint. It's worth noting that I had some problems getting paint to "stick" over the gloss, in case that will affect later paint jobs.

Now she springs on me that I MUST have the room back to white before I leave... any tips on covering these colors? It's a small room and I will really only have a day or two to do the paint job, so I hope to find something that can cover in only a couple coats. Is there some sort of primer that can achieve this? What about this "Kilz" paint I hear about?

I recently painted a wood desk and its really rough on top, like you can feel the grooves from the paint brushing. Whats something I can put on top, other than glass (i have a hutch on top the desk so i'd have to get a custom cut glass) that will make it smoother for the mouse to move on, write on, etc... thanks!

I have tried to grow this pine in my rock garden and it was dead by the next spring. The drainage was great(No Clay)! I had a landscaper tell me to put a layer of stone or gravel under the plant, then plant it. I am thinking Slica Sand(Course) and mix it in the soil. What do you think? Does anyone have any Ideas?

All I have are the flimsy plastic screens on the side of the unit through which I can even see sky so lots of heats must be passing as well. I've taped rolled up bath towels over the screens and put foam strips in the gap between the top and bottom panes. Are there any other suggestions?

I'd like to do a few things around the house and to my RV, but I have no knowledge, is there a propane-torch level of welding that's strong? Meaning, do you have to invest in a lot of equipment and intense learning or can it be simple? Thanks.

Its 95 degrees on Sunday. I jumped the low prssure switch to attempt to get some relief. The suction is hot and the discharge is cool - not cold. At the inside coil there is some differential between the incoming and outgoing line, but not much. The air coming out of the duct is cool. Able to hold about 85 degrees.

How do you do the connections, they seem to have plumber's tape and are just screwed together, is it pretty straightforward? Can I run the end to the gas source and let the gas company finish? How do you test for leaks before the gas is turned on? I need to save some money, I can do basic home repairs, I can see where the gas lines can be fed internally.

I was wondering of the above topic if I never spray any form of protection like plastic protector then will it get faded or so after years? The plastic in always indoor therefore has no chance of getting sun damage or so. I know plastic is so weak that simple wiping will get it scratches over time therefore hope to have less contact with the material. Pls advise.

#Is there any spray solution that dries itself (no smudges) without any need of wiping? pls recommend if any.

Situation: Forced air central heating furnace, AC unit added later, using same fan and ducts.
There is a humidifier unit ("Airking", rotating foam drum) in the return-air duct, and it also operates when the system is in AC mode.
Is that correct? Shouldn't it be disableds in AC mode and only work in Heat mode?
