Women's Health - March 2007

I am 31yrs old and this is the first time that I'm experiencing a period this heavy. Not to mention this dull headache that is coming along with it. I hate to sound disgusting, but I am running back to the restroom atleast every two hours, if not less to change my tampon. I am leaking more than ever. Does it sound like something may be wrong? What should I do or use to minimize my use of sanitary products? Please help if you have experienced the same problem or know what could be wrong. Serious answers only please.

i made a poor decision recently and i don't know if a condom was used. since it was my first time, are the odds any lower that i won't be pregnant? i'm kind of freaking out, but it's still two weeks till my period.

Its not uncommon for me to shed ALOT.... and until now hasnt been an issue.... the hair left on my head was never thick but normal. Ive recently noticed that i seem to be shedding alot more and i dont think im paranoid, but the hair on my head is diminishing! To give you an idea of how thin its gotten, when i pull it back into a ponytail the circumference is somewhere between a dime and a nickel! I have been pulling al nighters for a couple of weeks, and its possible my body has been under added stress, but is there anything i could do to stop and/or reverse this..... (rest isnt an option).

my period started a few days ago (a little off schedule but it's always been that way). but the thing is... it was sort of brownish colored at first, but then it went back to the normal blood red. but now... it's BLACK. this isn't usual for me. is this normal? or is something more going on?

I don't know whether it is said 'shaving' or waxing, yet anyway I would like to know if permanent hair removal by using a laser is in any way harmful or increases the risks of any disease? I too would like to know why in the 2 places I asked for prices, one was extremely more expensive than the other... Is there a better way? A safer way?

A friend has come from a broken home and was neglected by her single mum in a bad neighbourhood. 4 years ago she was attacked by her boyfriend who helped her as she was thrown out and had to stay in a bedsit in the innercity. She fell pregnant,had an abortion and took a break down. She has went from boyfriend to boyfriend and last month she fell pregnant and was happy ,joyful to keep it since now she has a good job and nice man. Last week she was taken into hospital,docs said the baby died in her and basically told her that was it,no sympathy at all. She cries all day and asks me why,when she cared for her child so much did it pass away. She cant get over her abortion when she was 15 and i think this new pregnancy was her way of fixing it, what can i do for her?

My cycle is going nuts! It was two weeks late...then when i did get it last Monday..At first it was clotty and tissuey....kinda brownish some...It did that for a day..didn't need anything more than a panty liner and really didn't need that. Then it quit for a couple days..then it came back for a couple days first brownish red then more pinkish red...its done that off and on ever since..then last night I was not bleeding and this afternoon I started bleeding normal bright red blood like a normal period again and had to use a tampon. It is now 7:34pm and I am not bleeding anymore. I have a 7month old daughter. It took us two years to concieve her. I was diagnosed with PCOS and took metformin and clomid (fertility meds) This is the first time since giving birht to her it's been messed up like this. We haven't been trying like every night, but we have been having unprotected sex for 3months. I've taken over the counter preggo tests and they are negative? What's going on? Thanks so much!

I had my period March 3 and it ended on March 6. I had the breast pain and swelling before my period, but I figured it was PMS. I've had this symptom ever since my period and the pain has not lessened in any way. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I had a c section about 3 weeks ago. My friend invited me to a party this coming weekend, and I would like to drink and have some fun for once.
I am not taking any medications, and have not for the past 1 1/2 weeks. Is there a time period I should wait before consuming alcohol? I'm not too sure, and don't want to take any chances.

Ok, so last summer I stopped taking my birth control pills. My period didn't start for over two months. Then I had to go to the ER because I had an ovarian cyst that had ruptured (it was my first one). So, stupidly I went back onto the pill. Then I stopped again about two months ago because they were making me gain a lot of weight. I still haven't started and I've checked twice for pregnancy. Am I going to have another cyst rupture?? Please help, I don't know what to do. Is there anything I can do to prevent it??
