My sister who's been married almost 20 yrs - loving & strictly monogamous couple. She's never been w/any other man but he was w/ 1 other woman before her - 3 years before. Earlier this year, her papsmear had no abnormalities but detected HPV (high-risk ones). Of course, she was depressed after that; she thinks it could ruin her health & life. Anyway, she took 2 more tests after & the HPV tests were negative.
We read info from internet, asked her dr, but really did not find the right answers. Here are our ?s:
1) Is that possible that the HPV was dormant for years in her or his body? How could it just appear all of a sudden? The virus will not be passed back & forth between them, right?
2) If her tests came back negative - does that mean she's immune to that type of virus & she's just a carrier? Will it reappear next time, depending on her health? She is healthy - exercises regularly, eating right, & worry-free.
3) If it does reappear, will it be worse? develop into cancer?

Okay, I really dont think it is crabs but here is my story. I'm 16 and i'm still growing more hair on my body ie. pubic hair, at the end of every hair there is a white thing sometimes close to the surface to see, a couple times i've popped out the white thing and the hair comes with it, is this just hair follicles?? and is this normal do all guys have this. I'd ask girls but its more visible on the sack and shaft (thin skinned) than anywhere else.

I told my boyfriend before we had sex that I have genital herpes and he seems to think that if we just have anal sex that he will not get it. I have done alot of research and I have tryed to tell him that he is not 100% safe just by us doing that. Am I wrong? I believe he can still catch it.

I heard that 90% of the people who have AIDS don't even know they have it. Is this true?

My mom and dad have been married for 26 yrs. My dad has cheated on my mom in the past, at the beginning of their marriage, and mom knows about that. We believe he has been cheating on her again, maybe for a long time. Anyways, my mom just found out she has herpes because recently she had her first outbreak and went to the doctors. My dad and her talked and he said that he has had it for a long time, when he first cheated on her. Could this be possible, if she never had an outbreak before? Or is he just saying that, because it is easier to admit to something she knows about, then admit to been cheating recently? Can herpes actually stay dormont that long?
Mom wanted me to ask this...!

My doctor has said 1 in 5 men, 1 in 4 girls have it. My skin specialist said, go to a bar and its 1 in 3 because of the age group. I'm having a very very seriously hard time believing this.....

I am so upset right now. The good news is, I havent slept with him, nor have we ventured in that area yet...

I may be a bit uneducated in this area, but can someone help me with a few questions? If we decided to have kids, would if affect them? And is there either chance that I wouldnt catch it?? I'm so confused about all of this, any input would be great.

Currently just started a relationship with a wonderful girl around a month ago. Shes not a virgin and neither am I and we have not engaged in sex yet, only heavy petting once in which she gave a short bj. I was abit apprehensive because of the fear of STDs, especially from the newspaper articles recently.

I really like her and wish for us both to get tested to set my mind at ease at least. How do i tell her in a way she will be receptive and not react adversely?

and if hopefully she is, which clinics provide such service? How much does it costs and how long do we have to wait for the results. The more dicreet the better.

i have Chancre sores on my throat. But prior to that bj, I ate lots and lots of sweet. So does oral sex has something to do with my tonsilitis? or is it just because of the sweets?

It seems that their medical staff don't have it. It seems that way because of how many doctors treat the patients, and ask them questions that if they did have it, they would clearly know the answer to. Questions like, if you have anal warts, they ask, "are you gay"? If they or they're staff had hpv and had that, they would clearly know the answer to that...which the answer is clearly it has nothing to do with your sexuality.

Seems the whole "oh don't worry, it's a common disease" speech is their poor way of trying to give you comfort. Do they say that about AIDS too? "Oh you have aids, but don't worry, it's common". As if that makes everything better! It almost seems like what they're really saying is, "diseases like HPV is common, but only common among foolish people, not us educated doctors".

May be I'm just irritated, I apologise for that. What do you think about this? It seems pretty unfair, and false.

After i had sex with my x last year few months after i was having discharge and all abnormal stuff coming out from me. like greenish yellowish discharge.. sometimes i got smell sometimes dont. then had this pimple like on my external vagina and multiply. So a month after that reaction i went see gyn..then she tested me with STD, Paps, gram stain, gonnoreah, blood test me with HIV but i am perfectly ok which mean its negative and paps are normal. The only thing she found out is a fungal infection down there. So she gave me antibiotic, supositories but same problem comes back yeast infection is still there. I change doctor after such and diagnosed me with HPV i was not contented and went to a 3rd Doctor and told me i dont have anything. Its alarming. I want to have a normal life. Doctor 2 gave me cream aldara to put it on the so called warts but after two consecutive application ( which is every other day) my skin burnt and looked liked cold sores. i need help on this
