No. Plagues are an emergence of a disease new to the population and the agent infects humans, causing serious illness.

Genital herpes has been around for a LONG time. It's nothing new. And, it also doesn't cause serious health issues. You can't die from it, it won't cause you to become sterile, it doesn't cause cancer. The sores are painful don't get me wrong, but it doesn't cause "serious" illness.

I work in an ob/ gyn office and no herpes of either kind is not considered an a plague it is considered a STD. And the ways to contract herpes(genital) is threw having unprotected sex with an infected partner ( includes oral sex as well). Now a days there are medications on the market such as valtrex that is taken when a flare up of the infection comes on or on a daily basis to help prevent the spread of herpes to your partner and speed up the days you have the infection for. These people live long active lives (sexually as well).

No. It is not a plague. It is incurable. It is caused by the same virus that causes cold sores and chicken pox. These are called herpes simplex I. Genital herpes is called herpes simplex II.
It can be transmitted even when a person does not have an active outbreak. Sex is risky.

Maybe in your circle of friends, not mine however it is thought that herpes is considered wrong thinking and herpes is just a symptom of that wrong thinking. Read the book (can be loaned through the local library 'You Can Heal Your Life' by Louise Hayes.

Not a plague because it is a virus, not a bacteria, and you have to engage in intercourse before you can contract it.

I don't think so, because plagues are usually air born.
