i am a one of those people who worry about everything so this is one of my concerns......I have a weak immune system, I am prego so keep that in mind. I am just curious if it could be a sign of cancer or just a result of poor eating habits my whole life and doing alot of drinking and drugs when I was a teen?? If whatever the answer could be, what are some things I could do besides eat fruits and veggies....I am prego so I have added those to my diet...

I have a lump on the middle of my under pit. I've had it for a year and it use to be smaller. Sometimes its enlarged, other times not. Maybe I'm misunderstanding? Now its bigger from the size it use to be and so far, it hasn't gotten smaller. Some lady, a pharmacist said a lymphnote or tumor? And I read something online about breast cancer (my grandma has had breast cancer and it runs in my family), but the thing is its NOT on my breasts! So, can it still be cancerous?

My Granfather age 77 was diagnosed with lung cancer. He has not smoked for almost 25 years. The tumor is at stage 3B (I'm not really sure what the B means but, I'm guessing in cancer in 3 spots) and it is pressing against his heart and one collapsed lung. He also has congestive heart failure. Currently he is in the hospital with phnemonia. I know he is not going to survive this, but my question is: is it really worth doing the radiation treatment to get a few more months of life? I'm not trying to be mean but, practical. The radiation is going to make him more tired than he already is so why put him throuhg more pain than needed. My family also has not talked about making hospice arrangements.

ANY THOUGHTS?

So a while ago my doc told me I have Psoriasis, and at first i was sad,but ive learned to deal with it.Its getting better and slowly leaving. I read that Psoriasis can make ur Lymphnodes infected[which ive already seen my doc b4 about] it was from black hair dye[which i now kno im allergic to] SO.........after all that when my Psoriosis does breakout on my skalp 4 of my lymps swell then go away in a few weeks. I have now read up about Hodgkins,n it says that the most common sign is the swellin nodes, however they say they r painless n sometimes mine r painful. I recently had bloodwork done and all was clear. If i had Hodgekins the cells would have shown up right? Im worried.I know i shouldnt be and im probably just worrying myself over nothing. Can someone just tell me their thoughts please? Thank You

What do you think? 1994 Researchers discovered the cancer stem cell in AML (leukemia). Other researchers did not believe it. Since then, about 15 cancers have been found to have cancer stem cells. Now the cancer stem cell is the cell that produces the cancer cell. Treatments for the last 30-40 years target only the cancer cells, missing the stem cell altogether. This may be why you get complete remissions in cancer (no cancer cells), but then the cancer returns because the cancer stem cell remains to regrow the cancer cells. Research is proving this out at Stanford, U Toronto, U Mich. and Hopkins. Yet other research centers and doctors have not picked up on this idea. This is akin to malpractice perhaps. Clinical trials will be coming out to target the cancer stem cells, and if you get some cures, then there will be a complete shift in thinking. Too bad it has taken 40 years.
