Cells lose the control to reproduce and then form into a tumor right? I can see how a brain tumor could kill someone but could someone else explain to me how exactly cancer kills someone?

My great-grandmother is 81, she was just diagnosed with breast cancer. What are the living chances, she underwent some sort of surgery yesterday/today, I don't know what is going on completely because my mom is trying to shelter me from it because I am fourteen. What is the best thing that we can do for her besides be there. Any facts will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Does it anger you that people smoke knowing the health dangers?

Maybe I am too health conscious and it gets my goat seeing people smoking like it is a fashion statement.

Then they get upset when they are diagnosed with the C word!

What do you think of this?

I have been living with the lump fo 6 months now and its not painful. I'm getting scared because its not going anywhere. I went to the Doctor in my campus clinic who me told that she didnot think it was breast cancer but hormonial but i should go for further tests to be sure. I'm only 20 and i'm really scared of loosing my breast. Ithought ignoring it would make it disappear. Please help. I havent told my mom cause she'll force me to go to the Doctor. How long does a breast cancer lump last before making you sick. I thought i would wait for it to kill me than have my breast cut.

I'm 13 years old and I was just wondering like...I mean like on one of my breasts I have a big lump that I can feel if I push down a bit and it's not on the other one...what should I do? I mean, it scares me. I don't have a family history of breast cancer though. I mean is it just something that's there because my breasts are still growing or what? And I'm almost scared to talk to my mom about it cuz I don't want to freak her out cuz A. we don't really have the money right now I don't think to be able to do anything if it WAS cancer and B. her mom died of breast cancer (but they weren't blood related cuz my mom was adopted).

I mean I'm just really scared and I don't exactly know what my own question even is right now but can somebody tell me what it might be?

i have just met a wonderful guy, who had terratoma 6 years ago. He had his lymph nodes removed and had strong chemotherapy. I have 2 questions. 1) what is terratoma and 2) what is the likelihood of us falling pregnant? The reason im not sure on details is that i dont want to ask him too many questions because we havent been together long. We are not even thinking about children yet but its good to be informed for the future. If any doctors/sufferers could answer it would be a great help. Thanks

For the last three period cycles my mom has had anxiety and depression. This is what her cycles go like
Beggining of cycle- anxiety, and anxiety related nausea and dizziness. Fatigue.
Midcycle and during period- depression, headaches, irratability, fatigue, and she feels a dull ache and fluttering in her ovaries during midcycle. (but she has always gotten that even before) The first two period were kind of early, and the 3rd on was 30 days.

Its really scaring me. Her Gyno felt her ovaries and felt nothing , but i am still worried about it. And recently i had a dream where she did have ovarian cancer. I keep having nightmares about her illness. And she says sometimes she feels a flushing sensation go through her neck and chest. Just before this all started, she used Progesterone cream to treat PMS. She never asked a doctor before she used it . The doctor then said that that can casue depression in women and gave her Ativan and Zoloft. They kinda helped. hold on let me add details

I had the first of 8 treatments last week. I was givin cytoxin and adrmicin ( spelling sorry ). The side effects hit me hard. Even after all the nausua medication ( everything they had ) nothing worked. It was four days before I could eat or even hold water down. I ended up in the hospital for days...the doctor gave me more meds and nothing helped. To make is worse I had nothing to get sick with and was having dry heaves...later I couldnt go to the restroom and was backed up from that also.
Even after I mean the top meds for nausau I was still so sick I couldnt move.
My cycles of chemo will be every three weeks...next week I go in again. Is there anything I can take that will help me with my nasua...
