It's not true. It's an email rumor. There is no evidence that anything in antiperspirants causes cancer . . but the rumors and misinformation persist. The reason the rumor persists is because it is loosely based on a half truth, but there is no scienfitic documented evidence to support the claim.

ACS: A persistent internet email rumor has suggested that underarm antiperspirants cause breast cancer

It's a myth based probably on bad statistical data. If you compared the number of women who got breast cancer and also wore antiperspirants 50 yrs ago to the number of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer and wear antiperspirant today of course it will look like there is a connecting when the truth is that the reason the numbers have gone up is because most women prefer not to stink and methods of breast cancer diagnosis have improved. You can make statistics prove just about anything you want.

Antiperspirants inhibit sweating. Sweating is the way God designed your body to rid itself of toxins. If your body can't get rid of the toxins it has to go somewhere, fatty breast tissue is a very accommodating location. Build up of toxins is what can cause cancer.

Claims about this have been made.

Apparently the active ingredient is aluminium-based, which has been linked to both cancer and alzheimers (aluminium depostis have been found in sufferers' brains).

The same links have been talked about with regards to aluminium cookware and aluminium soft drink cans (which for the last 10 - 15 years in Australia have been lined with a fine plastic film to stop the aluminium interacting with the drink).

Don't be alarmed. Cancer is caused by many things. There is treatment for it at least, most of the time. So use you antipersperant until the prove it's THE cause.

If that were true you would see an equal amount of men with breast cancer.

What I heard is that it lead to Alzheimer's Disease. I don't think there is any proof of this. I think they would be studying this a lot if that was the issue.

It's a myth...not true. There is no medical proof to back that claim.
