I got a bump on the side of my right ear, its not on the left one, and i tried popping it, so it's not an acne either. Its been there for about 1-2 weeks now and its still the same size ( -- ) About the size of the 2 "--" .

Is that a lymph node and a sign of cancer, or?

I have a good friend whose mom was turned over into Hospice care yesterday. She's in the last stages of pancreatic cancer & was told it can be anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. Being a mom & a Nana I know how to sit & talk to the little ones on this matter. But does anyone know of a good book designed for kids explaining death? This little boy is only 5yrs. old.

from today one may not purchase cigarettes unless one is 18 or over. Surely this should also apply to vegetables, as they are actually KNOWN to contain CARCINOGENS,whereas tobacco smoke has never been shown to contain any known carcinogen?

Smokers pay extra taxes to fund any extra treatment they might require on the NHS.
Surely vegetarians should be treated in the same manner?

There seems to be many different types of cancers. Are we looking at just one thing?

Also I have suffered with bowel cancer and have recently had a radical hysterectomy and 85% of my bowel removed. My life is devastated. I have 2 small children and I have still cancer remaining. Approx 4 doctors failed to find this as I have had extensive tests but none of them found this. What should I do. I am 43 years old and my family and I have suffered immensley. I just want to to know what is the right thing to do. I feel that it should have been found much earlier. My symptoms of this dates back to 2001.

My aunt acted like my mother for 10 years since I was a baby. When I already grew up I help her by running errands. She thanked me for it. But she got breast cancer and my family don't want her to "go" away. I want to make her live longer to thank her for everything that she did. She is now 60 years old and she stood out as a nanny to every young relatives of us. I kept on praying but I need to double my work to ensure her safety.

As far as my understanding was, men (although much more unlikely than women) can still get breast cancer.

Why then are certain charity runs/events 'Women only'?

I'm a female and I'm only thirteen, am I too young??

My doctors are toying with a number of different possibilities but its driving me crazy coz they havn't figured it out. Recently one suggested that although unlikely, I may have cancer.
Here are some of my symptoms

* Really bad cramps on lower right abdomen where appendix is (mines out)
* sometimes cramps on lower left side
* I go days without emptying bowels
* In past 5 weeks I have had 4 different stools with blood
* Had 1 lot of loose stool a week ago
* Sometimes mucous in stool (yellow)
* I am always really tired even after a full nights sleep

I'm really worried after what my doctor said and I have asked previous questions and many people have said correctoral cancer or something like that. Please tell me if I am too young or if my symptoms suggest.
Docs have also suggested crohns/ibd/polyps

*btw I am having tests at the moment*

Are there any other people between the ages of 20 and 35 on here who have dealt with cancer? I have noticed that there are of course places that deal specifically with children with cancer, and of course older people who get cancer. But it seems there are no programs in place for those of us who battle cancer as young adults; it's as if we aren't supposed to be sick.

My best friend is currently recovering from a mastectomy. She said she'd rather poke her eyes out than go to a support group. Her concern is that they would be too negative and not helpful. She's pretty sensitive to/not interested in wallowing (and has the impression that the groups/meetings would be very much about that). She's all about moving on and seeing this experience as positively as possible (she is an inspiration!).

She could use some support and conversation from others that have been through it. I suggested that maybe there are some groups out there that are all about positivity...though I have no clue where. Can anyone suggest a good one (or more)? She lives in the Northeast US. Online sites would be good too.

Thank you!

I am a mixed-race female 20 years old, about 6-months ago I noticed a pinkish purple-ish bruise like patch on my leg over the following weeks a second patch grew next to it and became the same size...they are both about 6mm across . They do not fade when pressed.

Since that time they do not appear to have grown, i'm going to make a doctor's appointment this week for the patches and HIV test.

My last HIV test was in August last year and was negative.

I now believe my last sexual partner (a man) who I last slept with in February may have been bi-sexual, i've had not partners since then... but the thing is I don't know what the likelyhood is of this being KS is, if anyone knows their experiance would be appreciated.

My last pap smear from April came back abnormal and I tested positive for HPV. I'm going back to have a second test done next friday as a 6 month follow up. I am so nervous. HPV causes cancer and because my pap test was abnormal does that mean I'm going to get cancer????
