I would do whatever it takes. Been there done it. Survivor for 10 years.
Your friend doesn't know if it is needed or not, only an oncologist knows. If in doubt get a second opinion.

Absolutely. My wife had breast cancer. She found the lump in 1993. Had the lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation. The tumor was large and something like 12 lymph nodes had cancer.
Normal follow up detected calcifications which turned out to be the cancer returned. That was 1996. She had a mastectomy and reconstruction surgery. She is still Cancer free today, living a happy life with all that behind her. It is no longer expected to return.
Yes, do any and everything to win. There IS life after Cancer!

It depends on the stage of the disease and the treatment protocol being followed by the institution. After mastectomy, Stage I disease usually does not require chemo.except for some factors that should also be considered such as size of the tumor, vascular invasion, etc. For Stage II node negative tumors the possibility of tumor recurrence is 30% within 5 years, so the patient is given the option to have chemo or not. For stage II node positive tumors the possibility of tumor recurrence is 70% within 5 years so chemo or hormonal therapy is indicated.

Yes. Chemotherapy as well as Radiation Therapy are requeired after Breast surgery. They are very essential. The main purpose of chemotherapy is to kill cancer cells. It is usually used to treat patients with cancer as there is every possibility of . cancerous cells spreading to other areas. Chemotherapy destroys cancer cells anywhere in the body. It even kills cells that have broken off from the main tumor and traveled through the blood or lymph systems to other parts of the body.Chemotherapy also can ease the symptoms of cancer, helping some patients to have a better quality of life.
Secondly, Radiation therapy or radio therapy is also essentail. The purpose of radiation therapy is to kill or damage cancer cells. Radiation therapy is a common form of cancer therapy. It is used in more or less for all cancer cases.
The main idea of giving all these treatments is to ensure that no cancerous cells are left in the body, as it may come up with further cancer and complications as cancer of some other part or the place where operated. Please continue with the treatments as CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA and we can not take any chances. -

not sure what you mean, do chemo after what? surgery?
i have breast cancer and the growth of my tumor was so fast growing that chemo was given first, then mast., then radiation. Need a little more info. on what your asking? Are you asking which you would do first? If that's the question your oncologist will tell you which avenue that you should do first. I wasn't given a choice. I was told this is what we are going to do.

do chemo. better safe than sorry. the doctors dont do things they dont feel is for the good of their patients. if you dont do chemo you should see a chinese herbal doctor because cancer only needs one cell to travel and start growing again...why take a chance.
read dr. young's miricle on the internet too and learn ways to fight cancer with a healthy diet. believe in the power of prayer too because my mother is 10 years in remission from hodgekins lymphoma, and my sister is in 12 years of remission after a bone marrow transplant.

Chemo is scary and makes you feel awful and with advances in treatment for side effects it is more tolerable. Someone described it like morning sickness, which I found to be fairly accurate.
Been there, done that and would do it again, if need be.

diff. procedures for Chemo. Cause of her Mastectomy,
(complete removal of breast); & her lymph nodes testing
negative for CANCER; it is more of a precautionary
proceedure. She is duing RADIATION at the present.
You see, there is alot involved in this process; and like i said"
