My local friends and some family who used to be very supportive avoid me because I take care of my appearance by looking well and living life to the fullest even though I have had 2 lung surgeries and brain radiation this year. I travelled to europe by myself on holiday. They dont feel I am too sick. However I am stage 4 and have a recurrence in my brain. I just want a support group I can count on. Most of my friends I speak with on a dad to day are other cancer patients or friends from out of tow. Why have my close friends turned on me?

A friend of mine told me that right after she eats she gets really sick and her stomach hurts really bad. I told her that this is not s symptom of cancer but she doesn't believe me. (I think is bulimia but certainly not cancer). Could you guys tell me what are the first symptoms of cancer?

I was diagnosed with bone cancer this summer after having surgery on my left arm where they found a tumor. now the cancer has spread and they are giving me about four months. Since my family and friends have found out, they avoid me every chance they get. One might think that they would want to spend as much time as possible with me. But it is just the opposite.

My 8 year old had a vision test yesterday. He’s a bit nearsighted but so are his mother and I so no surprise. However the optometrist detected that his optic nerves are bulging which he said could be simply calcium deposits but “to be safe” the office is referring us to a children's retinal specialist (an othomologist). They are even making the appointment to get us right in. If you google calcium deposits + optic nerves + kids the list of brain tumors is extensive. My question is how worried should I be? I’m a calm person but I’m starting to worry. He’s had no other symptoms of brain issues that I have detected.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago today at the age of 31....it was a nast diagnosis with 7 positive lymph nodes which led to mastectomy, chemo, rads and 2 years of Herceptin in a trial . So far I am ok,although as I only finished Herceptin in June I do still feel a little creaky and tired.....the weight gain from the hormonals has been awful and I hate feeling so fat but I suppose its better to be alive than a skinny dead!

Anyway just wanted to know how to cope with the fear cancer brings, I have an eight year old I want to raise to adulthood and I lay awake at night just crying and crying.....doesi t ever get better? and how many women really survive this and live to a ripe old age?
Any suggestions on diet and supplements too would be great....I do log on to various cancer websites and they help but sometimes I feel I should have "moved on" by now!
