HI Tinkerbell!
Cancer can be such a touchy subject. Yes cancer can be passed down from family members however it depends on the cancer. Even if everyone in your family has cancer that doesn't mean 100 % you are going to have cancer! No one knows if you are going to get cancer. Keep up with your physcials. Go to your doctor once a year and get checked. If there is something going on strange in your body then go to the doc. don't over look something. Better safe then sorry.
Go to the website http://www.plwc.org and click on cancers. Then you can click on each type of cancer that you want and see how herediarty it is.
best of luck to you and take Care of yourself. :)

You do know there is genetic testing for cancer. I am myself goingh through breast caner treatment and it does not run in my famialy but I do know the chances of getting cancer is more likely when it does run in families espcially if on both sides, You just need to make sure you have yearly checkups and that your doctors are aware of cancer running in both sides of your families.

I don't know your statistics but I would suggest being more careful. Cut out known cancer causers like smoking and take better care of yourself. Also getting regular doctor check-ups should help. Other than that try not to worry about what has not happened. I could get hit by a car crossing a street but I can't quit crossing streets. Point is, don't worry about what has not happened and what is out of your control.

There is a higher chance that would but as long as you stay healthy there shouldn't be a problem. It is a good idea to monitor your health and get checked for cancer every once in a while.

Dont listen to rocco! what does that person know?
just keep ur yearly check ups and if you ever suspect anything go get checked out! Breast cancer runs in my family. My doc is aware of this and b/c of it instread of yearly check-ups he has me come in every 6 months, it's a pain, but it's worth it! Just talk with ur doctor and see what he/she says!

my feeling is that stuff like this kind of runs in families. the first thing you need to do is find out everything you can about your family history. than talk to your doctor. stay on top of things where your health is concerned. to take anything for granted. you may get it, but if you catch it early enough, it can be treated and most often times, cured.
good luck and i wish you well.
